Third time's a charm. I went to the Penguin Booth shortly after 10AM and said, "Mon Mothma requests your aid" and I got Star Wars: The Mask of Fear by Alexander Freed.

From the Penguin Oracle quiz I got At the Bottom of the Garden by Camilla Bruce.

Since Freddie Prinze Jr. canceled his appearance I didn't have my photo-op at 11 AM.

I did go to this panel with my sister.

Inside the Haunting World of The Fall of the House of Usher: A Panel with Mike Flanagan and Cast
Sat, Oct 19, 2024 • 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM
Location: Room 405
Dive into the eerie world of The Fall of the House of Usher with the cast and director at New York Comic Con! Join director Mike Flanagan, and stars Carla Gugino (Verna), Kate Siegel (Camille), and R …
Guests:
Mike Flanagan, Rahul Kohli, Carla Gugino, Kate Siegel, Josh Horowitz

Josh Horowitz recorded the panel for his podcast happy Sad Confused.

My sister is more familiar with Mike Flanagan's work. I have not watched anything from him. And I only know Rahul Kohli from iZombie.

Not being familiar with the shows mentioned I can't say much, except that I loved Rahul's story of watching Usher with Hayden Christensen (at the 00:41:44 mark) and Hayden would elbow Rahul when he was on screen.

I can't believe that (at the 00:48:00 mark) Kate Siegel said she doesn't like While You Were Sleeping.Yes, she made a good point about seeing from Peter Gallagher's POV, but it's a rom com. It's mostly a movie about how Sandra Bullock is lonely and finds a family. And she and Bill Pullman are so cute. IDC, I love that movie.

The story at 54 minutes is funny. It's about mistaken identity. TSA thinks Kate Siegel looks like Elizabeth Olsen.
Then Jon Voight told Kate Siegel she looks like his daughter. And she thought he looked like Christopher Walken.

All around, even though I've not watched Mike Flanagan's work, this was a funny and entertaining panel.

Then I went to this panel:

Guests:
Daniel José Older, Michael Siglain, Cavan Scott, Harvey Tolibao, Alyssa Wong, and Rachel Scott.

I was sitting at a really weird angle so I recorded the audio and edited in the stills I took. Sorry for the coughing in the beginning. I was choking on my snack and I was really hungry.

They started out talking about the first Star Wars book they read.
I was excited when Alyssa mentioned Jedi Quest because I too liked those books.

Then they went around to mention what they were currently reading or what was the most impactful Star Wars book for them.

These were the comic books mentioned and their release dates.
Vader's Castle - Now Available.
The High Republic: Saber for Hire - Now Available.
Saber for Hire Trade Paperback - Available January 28, 2024.
The High Republic: Dispatches from the Occlusion Zone
Issue 1 - Now Available.
Issue 2 - Available November 27, 2024.
Issue 3 - Available December 18, 2024.
Issue 4 - Available January 22, 2025.
The High Republic Adventures Annual - Available January 22, 2025.
The High Republic Adventures Issues 14-17 - Available January 15, 2025.
This was most impressive. The covers connect into a panorama and it took Harvey Tolibao so many days to complete. He Sid he works 18 hours a day. You can tell he really loves drawing because he's so enthusiastic and animated when he describes what he does, and he has so many ideas he wants to get down on paper. He brought his sketch book, which was cool. He's very talented and I loved his attitude.

Also, a sweet moment was when Daniel (who is an aspiring artist) gave Harvey his drawing of one of Harvey's characters as a thank you.

The Wedding Spectacular - Available December 18, 2024

This had a big spread also (like a magazine cover) because every High Republic character was invited to the wedding and Harvey drew it all. He's a funny guy. He spoke about drawing the clothing for the characters at a wedding an how his wife tells him how to dress. She says he looks like a robber not an artist. He doesn't think the reader will notice the details, but they so.

SWTHRA: The Battle of Eriadu One Shot - Coming Soon.
The Bad Batch: Ghost Agents - Available January 15, 2024.
Hyperspace Stories: Qui-Gon - Available March 4, 2024.
Hyperspace Stories: Grievous - Coming Soon.
Hyperspace Stories: Mace - Coming Soon.

They finished off talking about what are they looking forward to and what else are they working on.

I haven't read any books or comic books from The High Republic yet (I might so a marathon read once it's all available), so I was a little lost, but I am glad I went to the panel to see what's new and to see the artwork.

My sister and I didn't stay much longer after that panel so that wraps up Saturday.
