Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish.

Updates are now at That Artsy Reader Girl

September 3: Books Involving Food (That are Not Cookbooks)

1) Delicious! by Ruth Reichl.
The protagonist works at a food magazine and some recipes are included at the end of the book.

2) From Scratch: A Memoir of Love, Sicily, and Finding Home by Tembi Locke. You can't have a memoir about your love for a Sicilian chef and then don't talk about the food. Recipes are included.

3) Christmas at Glitter Peak Lodge by Kjersti Herland Johnsen, Olivia Lasky (Translator). I didn't like this story but it did include Norwegian Christmas recipes from each character.

4) Matilda by Roald Dahl. I remember the chocolate cake scene in the book being different from the movie, and I liked the movie better.

5) The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows.

The Potato Peel Pie is gross but a good cover story for a book club on Nazi occupied Guernsey. And there's this:

Will Thisbee gave me The Beginner's Cook-Book for Girl Guides. It was just the thing; the writer assumes you know nothing about cookery and writes useful hints - "When adding eggs, break the shells first.”

6) Tante Poldi Series by Mario Giordano.
Auntie Poldi and the Sicilian Lions
Auntie Poldi and the Vineyards of Etna
Auntie Poldi and the Handsome Antonio
Auntie Poldi and the Lost Madonna

It takes place in Sicily and anytime the meals are described in detail my mouth waters.

7) It Burns: The Scandal-Plagued Race to Breed the World’s Hottest Chilli by Marc Fennell. I don’t like anything spicy so I never eat peppers so this was a whole new subculture to me.

8) You Can Thank Me Later by Kelly Harms and Lauren Fortgang. A family friendly Thanksgiving listen.

9) This one is on my TBR Kissing Kosher by Jean Meltzer - a Kosher bakery romance!

10) A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness.

She [Sarah] picked up three wineglasses and waved them in Matthew's direction. "Got any more of that wine, Casanova?"
"I'm French, Sarah, not Italian. And I'm a vampire. I always have wine," Matthew said with a wicked smile.

There's lots of wine, and tea, and coffee mentioned in the series.
