Today the big thing was Ewan's photo op at 2:30.
That was a pain-in-the-behind to purchase. There was a glitch where the site wouldn't allow you to "add to cart". Then the site turned off the ability to shop. When it turned back on there was still a glitch. Eventually I was able to get through (on my phone, no less) and add to cart. However, by that time Ewan's autographs were sold out, but at least I managed to get a photo op. Hopefully next time I can get the photo signed.
Lots of people were annoyed because they weren't allowed to bring in props and do poses. For example, Chris Evans was there and the fans had to leave their Captain America shields outside. For Ewan the fans had to leave their lightsabers outside. I think it was because of the writer's strike.
I don't usually bring props and wear themed t-shirts instead. My sister wore her Moulin Rouge t-shirt and I wore a t-shirt from Celebration 2015 in Anaheim (the lightsaber definition one at the top.)
The process was so fast we didn't get to say much to Ewan except for nice to meet you. He did shake our hands though when walked into the photo booth. And he was wearing his new grey cardigan.
Before the photo my sister and I went around the show floor and picked up some books today.
When we got to the Penguin booth there was an ARC giveaway for Hunt on Dark Waters by Katee Robert.
We also took an Oracle quiz on an iPad. I forgot most of the questions. Some were about which monster would you want to fight? Where is the ideal place to read?
Then the oracle (algorithm) placed you in a court.
The different courts were: scholars, nightmares, dreams, wits, and warriors. And within each court (category) were several books.
The book the algorithm oracle picked the Court of Wits for me and the girl gave me a choice between two books. I chose The Tainted Cup by Robert Jackson Bennett. I had read his other book, Foundryside, which was also a choice in Court of Wits. I have to finish the Foundryside trilogy.
There was also a signing happening and it was almost over. They had a couple of more books left and they asked us if we wanted to join the signing. So we did and we had a little conversation with Wesley Chu. He asked us who some of our favorite authors are. Between me and my sister we said Pierce Brown, Katherine Arden, Ruta Sepetys, and Deborah Harkness. I think he said he had dinner with Katherine the night before. He then also told us about the War Arts Trilogy. I only remember that that third book coming out has a green cover.
The Art of Prophecy by Wesley Chu. This was also a choice in the Court of Wits.

The big thing today was the Pierce Brown signing at the Spoke Art booth. Besides that my sister and I went back to the Penguin Booth to take the Oracle quiz again. This time I got To Gaze Upon Wicked Gods by Molly X. Chang, part of the Court of Warriors. My sister got The Warm Hands of Ghosts by Katherine Arden, part of the Court of Nightmares.
It was pouring when we traveled home. My book bag got soaked and my book got wet.
There was a queue debacle at the Spoke Art Booth. I don't think they anticipated the popularity of Pierce Brown and there was no room for us. It should have been held in a room and not the show floor. That way we could have queued up early and not blocked other booths on the show floor.
Anyway, the signing was fun. I bought the glow in the dark Institute map and Pierce signed it. He remembered me and my sister. I told him how much I enjoyed Light Bringer and how it's in my top three, behind Golden Son and Morning Star.
My sister was taking candids. I wish I asked for a posed photo so that my Circus shirt could be seen. But this is pretty funny too with Pierce pointing.
This is what my shirt said. I got the banana too and it's from Part 1 of Light Bringer.
I also liked this Black Swan poster at Spoke Art and they had the poster of the Archimedes (Cassius' ship).
My friend Kat was with us at the signing too. I got her into the Red Rising books and this was her first time meeting Pierce. He liked her cosplay (from a different fandom) and she got a photo with him.
