Beautiful Chaos: Caster Chronicles 3, by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl - 3.5 out of 5 End of Days
Ethan Wate thought he was getting used to the strange, impossible events happening in Gatlin, his small Southern town. But now that Ethan and Lena have returned home, strange and impossible have taken on new meanings. Swarms of locusts, record-breaking heat, and devastating storms ravage Gatlin as Ethan and Lena struggle to understand the impact of Lena's Claiming. Even Lena's family of powerful Supernaturals is affected - and their abilities begin to dangerously misfire. As time passes, one question becomes clear: What - or who - will need to be sacrificed to save Gatlin?
For Ethan, the chaos is a frightening but welcome distraction. He's being haunted in his dreams again, but this time it isn't by Lena - and whatever is haunting him is following him out of his dreams and into his everyday life. Even worse, Ethan is gradually losing pieces of himself - forgetting names, phone numbers, even memories. He doesn't know why, and most days he's too afraid to ask.
Sometimes there isn't just one answer or one choice. Sometimes there's no going back. And this time there won't be a happy ending.
Despite Lena being back and having to read her annoying, whiny scenes, I did like the third book.
I felt like not much happened because some parts dragged, but then again there were some major events that moved the story forward.
I loved the part when there was a Furor spell over the characters and Liv was just calling Lena out on all her emo bullshit! That was perfect and priceless. After that, with the exception of the mushy Lena/Ethan emo-love talk, Lena was a bit more tolerable.
Speaking of Lena and Ethan's stupid and meaningless relationship; with the little we got of Liv and John's relationship blossoming I was STILL more invested theirs than I ever could be Lena/Ethan's after three freaking books!
Ridley's story summed up in one word - predictable. I still got a kick out of her from time to time.
Link - one of my favorites in the book. And turning him into a supernatural - FUN and amusing.
This was one of my favorite lines, "I’ve had a bad feelin’ since I got back from Neverland and turned into a Demon.” LOL Aww poor guy.
Macon - made of awesome. I want more Macon.
After three books of Sarafine being a villain and the flashbacks of early Dark Caster Days in this book, I didn't expect her death so soon, or to be so anti-climatic. And you would think an emo complainer like Lena would have whined about killing her mother a lot more afterwards.
Amma, sometimes she does annoy me when she keeps secrets to herself, but Dark Amma is sad. Is she the one who needs to be redeemed in the forth and final book, Beautiful Redemption.
Or is it Sarafine?
Aunt Prue - so sad she died, but she got a good send off.
Ms. English - I hope they explain why she was the vessel for the Wheel of Fate. How she got that moon stone. And just what in the world of Gatlin is really going on between her and Ethan's dad?
Started Beautiful Redemption today. 36 pages in and off to a good start so far.
My cousin finished the series and we had a very long discussion about it on facebook.

Me: All she does is whine. It's like Shut the F--- Up already.
June 6 at 9:39pm · Like
Me: She is not what a powerful caster should be. I can't believe she is as powerful as the authors try to make her out to be. My shoes have magical power than her.
And when she has scenes with Ethan I want to run them over with a bus. BORING!
Best part of the series is Macon and Liv, and Link.

Me: I don't care. She needs to grow a pair of ovaries already and stop whining!
I just cannot take her! I honestly would love the series if she never existed. But she brings the whole thing down with her annoying ass and I can only say I 'like' the series.

Me: I would liked to tell the authors they failed with Lena. They created a horrible character. I can already sense my disappointment when Lena doesn't die at the end.
Amma is amusing. Sometimes she gets on my nerves. Like just tell Ethan what the f is going on instead of being mysterious. *major eye roll*

A: mmm Im not sure about that..lena wont whine if she was a siren.. You just wait to see what Amma does
June 6 at 9:57pm · Like
Me: I am anticipating bad ass Amma again like she was at the end of Book 2. There is not enough of that Amma.
If Lena doesn't stop f-ing whining and start living up to the standards the authors make of her by the 4th book I am putting her on my list of worst literarily characters ever.

A: I appreciate how the authors wrote Lena's character because you cant always have someone so strong and happy. Not everyone is happy in life. Sometimes people just whine because it help them get through the day. I think its a coping mechanism for Lena

Me: I get that there are real people like her, but I absolutely can't stand reading about them. I want to read about strong characters who get their stuff done. Not sit around and complain to cope. Those are not the type of characters I want to read about. Also makes me question what the hell does Ethan see in her. She had no desirable qualities. Makes me want to puke.

June 6 at 10:14pm · Like
Me: That's the whole thing. The authors are terrible at writing their "romance". They fail at writing their attraction to one another because I can't name a single reason why they should be together. Having predestined dreams about each other is not a reason to date.

That's why I say if Lena were taken out of the story, I'd love it! But she lessens the quality of it for me.

There are still some printed books I do want add to my collection.

Dream Dark: Caster Chronicles 2.5, by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl - 4 out of 5 Mrs. Lincoln's biscuits
I liked that Link got his own short story. I only wish he was narrating it. I don't understand why Ethan had to tell Link's story. And how does he know what happened if he was not there? Did Link tell Ethan in GREAT detail? Is Ethan taking liberties and adding his own commentary to Link's story?
Regardless of my disappointment in having to have Ethan tell a story that is not his, I enjoyed this short side story. Link is one of my favorites and I liked seeing him adjust to the consequences of Book 2. There's a mix of emotions, a warning, and of course a few lessons from Macon.
