A good week indeed (long post warning)

May 02, 2008 07:38

The past couple of days have been really relaxing and eventful at the same time... it was a good few days off of work, but now that I'm back to work and it's still early, might as well get a post in! It'll be long, but I'll put headings up like usual so you can skip over the stuff that's not of interest to you (but why would you want to do THAT?)

Vroom, Vroom!!
One of the last really good Wii games came out on Sunday... Mario Kart Wii. Originally I was going to wait it out and pick it up a couple of weeks down the line... but I couldn't wait, because it's Mario Kart!! It's really fun, but not too much has changed from the earlier versions of Mario Kart, the addition of new tracks and characters is always welcome, but what really makes a tremendous difference is the online play. It's not just for 4 people anymore, but a whopping 12 people can race at the same time... it's wonderful and exciting, unless you're in 1st place, because then you get raped with blue shells, bloopers, red shells, and anything else that the other 11 people behind you will throw at you. And what's even crazier is that Annie has gotten into it as well... and she's actually really good, beating all 8 cups in the 50cc class before i did in a matter of a few hours. Given some more time, and I'll have a hard time keeping up with her...

BFF!! D'aaw!!
Myself, Annie, my sister, and my best friend, Kevin, (and best man in the wedding) headed out to Dave&Busters on Tuesday night for some drinks and games, the best combination in my book! It was good times, really, despite the wait we had to endure to get our first round of drinks!! A huge party of about 20 people kinda cut in the queue at the bar and ordered a crapload of drinks before us, tying up the single bartender for a solid 25 minutes. It was completely insane, but we kept our cool and waited for our drinks and then hit the games! We did REALLY well for what time we had in the arcade. We mostly played the 6-player trivia, earning well over 3000 tickets just in that alone, and I remember Annie playing Deal or No Deal and having the two cases left with either 1000 or 12 tickets in it... and instead of taking the 506 ticket deal, walked away with a measley 12!! Oh well, that game is all about the risk anyway, so it's all good. I love that place to no other... YAY GAMES!

BodyWorks Exhibit
On Wednesday, my sister and i headed out to a museum next to USC to see the BodyWorks exhibit that was there. For those who haven't heard of it, basically it's an exhibit that has real human bodies that have been marvellously preserved and shown in really intricate details. They're displayed in almost an artistic sense, but also really intricate with how detailed some of these things are. They seriously left no muscle, nerve, bone, or other part of the body unturned. It was TOTALLY worth my $16 to walk through this thing, and I definately want to go back before it goes away in September. I've seen this persons work before too, I forget his name off the top of my head, but he was in a TV show called Autopsy: Life and Death. And it was NOT for the squeamish as they cut up several bodies and showed the process of how the body dies after traumatic injury. REALLY educational... but also REALLY gory. Anywho, the exhibit was nothing like that... it was awesomely amazing... It'll be at the California Science Center until September 9th...

I broke down... so I can ROCK OUT
Yesterday, I noticed that Toys R Us was having a sale on the Rock Band set for Xbox 360. And I was kinda iffy about buying this game, only because I had just bought Mario Kart and Wii Fit comes out in 2 weeks... But I told myself that I'd only check one store and if they didn't have it, i wouldn't go searching for it because it wasn't something that I had to have right then and there... even if it was on sale. And sure enough, they had a few left, so I bought Rock Band for my system, and it's pretty bitchin! Now all I have to do is get Annie to sing, and my buddy Kevin to play drums, and I just need a good guitar player (I prefer bass) and booyah! The only problem is that I don't have room in the apartment to keep all my fun toys... especially that bulky drum set... I'll have to figure something out though... I'd hate to have to put it away and keep it away. But fun times!!! I love my games!

First time for everything
Alright, for those who don't know, I do delve into what is knows as the furry fandom. Now before you get all **OMGWTFBBQ** on me, I'm not THAT kind of furry... but that's besides the point... I'm going to be going to my first convention in about 2 weeks with some of my long time friends, and although I'm still a little nervous about the whole thing, I know it's going to be good times. But to help commemorate the festivities, my good friend Ookami Kemono, red_feline_eyes drew me a con badge for me to wear at the event (along with one from tally_kat as well) and I just had to share it with you all....

Isn't he awesome looking??? It's great I know... such talent he has!

So I'm sure I'll let you all know how that goes when it does go down...

In conclusion...
That's about it... so many interesting things happening the few days that I was off from work... it was good to relax while still having some fun time and getting other things done that... well... needed to be done! Heh... Hope all of the rest of your days are as good as mine have been!
