So yeah... just in case I didn't already tell half the world... I got my Wii, and I'm really happy with my purchase. I really haven't started Twilight Princess yet, but I still want to finish my FFXII before I trek into that! The controls are so crazy fun. I even got my sisters and parents into the whole thing... It came with Wii Sports, which is pretty much a huge introduction to how the new controller system works. I don't want to turn this into a big advertisement... so I'll spare the details, but it's just really fun.
So last night at work, I was preparing myself for a long, boring night. Even though it was busy, I had a poor section in the corner of the restaraunt... No one likes to sit there. But then during preshift, I get a HUGE suprise from the assistant GM. She comes up to me to ask me if I can handle the hut captain station (more tables and I have to manage the servers in my hut and keep it clean). So obviously I said ok! I was all excited; wish I could say the same for my fellow servers.
See, when she asked during preshift, she said "Okay, where's Robert?" and before I could say "Over here" the other Robert was in her line of sight. So she told him that he would be moved from his station to a hut captain station. The reaction from the masses was "Yeah! Good Job! Wow, Big Baller! etc..." a very positive one if i do say so myself (by the way, he's newer than me). That's when I spoke up. "Uh, nancy? Which Robert did you mean?" I asked. "Oh, wait, you're Robert A, aren't you?" "Yup!" I replied. "Oh, then you're the one that's being moved. Sorry [other] Robert."
The crowd's reaction instantly changed to a couple groans and even one look of death from someone. I simply smiled and looked away. That's all I could do! Honestly popularity seems to be a bigger player than experience... Thankfully the shift went by VERY smoothly (only one big problem, but that was solved) and I think I did alright managing everyone in the hut. On top of that, my section had extra tables, which meant extra money! I went from possibly making $60-80 to $140. It was great... I think I'd be able to do it again. We'll see what they say when I go back this weekend.
Well I'm off to do a little school work... just so that I have time to play with my Wii when I get home! Yay!
