Nasty wake up call
So I get up this morning, at 5, and start getting ready for my day. But something isn't quite right, as the dog is out of her bed and she is at full attention facing towards the door...
So i go out to head to the bedroom and notice that my mother-in-law's bedroom light is on and her door is open (she is away for the weekend, so no one should be in there...). I'm frozen for a second as I see someone start to move in the room... and come my way...
Ugh, it's my damn brother-in-law, stoned off his ass. He moved down to San Diego about two months ago for a new job and decided to crash the house sometime in the early morning (hence why the dog was up and awake). I suppose I'm alright with that, I mean, he used to do that all the time before we moved in, so I guess it's not a big deal. But that's not what pissed me off. The fact that he was actually smoking weed somewhere near the house (I could smell it on him when I confronted him in the hallway) had me upset. You don't do that shit around me or my family. Hell, what if the neighbor called about the odor and we had an early morning visit by the police? I don't need that shit storm to hit me, thank you very much. Either way, he had apparently left before I finished getting ready for work. But just the fact that he did this without telling myself or Annie (or my mom-in-law for that matter) has me a little irked.
Anywho, for now I'm on minimal sleep as I sit here at work. I worked 16 hours yesterday and I'm back on my normal shift today at 6am, so I'm sipping my coffee in a pitiful attempt to stay alert. Both myself and the Watch Deputy were here for 16 yesterday, and we're both back again, and it's just us two manning the station phones until 10am, when an extra person gets here. So you can tell that things are going to be so lively for the first half of this shift ... ugh... sleeeeeeep, where are you!?
