got me thinkin'

Hi Guys, turn your head if you dont want me to nerd all over your face but today i got even more rediculously nerdtacular. I woke up and figured, "hey, if i can download comedy routine podcasts, i might be able to find podcasts about stuff like world history!" holy shitfuck! i hit paydirt in 5 seconds!

Today i listened to an interesting podcast where the host compares Alexander the Great to Adolf Hitler. He raised a very interesting argument that if you take the legend of Alexander "The Great" away, then you see that he massacred hundreds of thousands of people, like in the razing of Thrace. Alexander pretty much wiped out all the indegenous tribes of Afghanistan in his campaign there, in his attempt to thwart a guerilla war, by killing everyone man woman and child. The host then posed the question "will history forget the massacres of Adolf Hitler?"....

I really dont think that history will.... mostly because Alexander was victorious and never lost a battle or campaign... Adolf hitlers regime was dismantled quickly, and condemned by the world immediately, while Alexanders expansion was gradually divided up following his death and the subsequent conquerors of the region (The Romans) revered him as a genius. So Listen PODCAST GUY Dan Carlin or whatever... Alexander the Great was pretty great in the sense that he and his father Philip II revolutionized tactical warfare. Regardless of what he was fighting for, every general of every army after 323 BC would've been stupid not to study how the Macedonians managed to continually defeat armies ten times their size or more. Alexander was also leading the charge of the dagger that would pierce through that decisive point of the enemy ranks with his companion cavalry. Thats where "The Great" comes from, not cause he was a nice guy, but because he was really good at what he was, which was a Soldier, a General, a Warlord and a Conqueror.

I think i've properly trumped that egghead... he's an awesome guy though because he and i share the same odd fascination with history and he is totally namedropping sources left and right which i will be looking up and reading for the next 10 years.

Oh man, I get the history channel next week... i think i just spilled mine seed in mine pants.

Find something you love to learn about people... thats all i have to say.
