I finished Eragon today at work (my turn to cover the phones for the shortened Friday hours) and I was quite sore to see it done. It's a very fun read and heavily influenced by all things Lord of the Rings.
Okay, admittedly I love dragons and elves and all that chivalry, but it's time to turn to a big-girl book.
Putting Valley of the Dolls on hold yet again I started Heat by Bill Buford. On our honeymoon drive around the valley, we heard of this book on the radio. It follows Buford experience with NYCChef Mario Batali and it paints quite a dazzlingly drug induced picture of the giant red chef. I take this sort of narrative like the style of Bill Bryson's travel literature - entertaining with a smattering of fact.
When I first saw his show years back I was sort of grossed out by him. He tastes everything with his fingers and I swear puts his entire fist in his mouth. But then I watched him make a pannini sandwich that looked really good on an episode and that made me forget the saliva fest....
