So I woke up today more than ready to hate the world and everything in it today, operating in permanent thundercloud status, because:
-I have a really bad cold;
-every one of my friends here has gone home for spring break, leaving me alone in the hall with people that I don't dislike, but don't know very well;
-IT WAS RAINING. Possibly snowing, but Scottish/Glasgow snow, which means wet, slushy snow that melts on contact with the ground.
Therefore yuck. I also had to get up and leave my room before 9, though, because Monday is cleaning day. So I decided to walk up to ASDA and get food, and then come back to my room and collapse for the rest of the day.
BUT on my return I felt much more chipper, and decided to go along with my original plan, which includes not wasting any days here. I marched right back to the bus stop and ended up on the University campus, to take fun artsy pictures in classic Glasgow weather, pick up my history essay, which I did very well on, and go to the Museum of Transport--
WHICH WAS FANTASTIC. I love Glasgow museums, mostly because they're all free and super easy to get to, but they all have a real museum-y feel--they're in these red-brick buildings and wide and spacious, but full of stuff, which is exactly how a museum should be. Unfortunately they're moving the museum of transport to a brand new building that's built to look all new-agey and I'm sure it won't feel the same after the move, so it's a real shame. I hate that. Why must they [I don't even know who "they" are] keep creating brand new facilities that just look like modern art pieces, and have nothing to do with the actual museum? :[
But anyway. It was really good, all old trams and buses and motorcycles and cars, some of which nearly made me cry they were so timeless and grand. [I tell you, if I ever meet a guy with one of those and a penchant for three piece suits, I'm done for.] My sentimentality was countered by screaming school children on a field trip, but even that was made really sweet when their gruff guide ushered them down and told them to "jist have a wee seat here."
maybe I'm just lonely
I'm very proud of myself. Or, as I should say, I'm right chuffed. :D
