Jessica and Matt came over last night to hang out with Mike and I. Matt's first words to Mike(my roommate) "Dude, you're HUGE!" They really liked each other. Matt and I get along great too. We talk about politics and things like that. I guess that is good that I like him and all since he is marrying one of my best friends. Jessica kept trying to tell him, "She's smart, she really is smart." And I proved it to him when I stood up and asked Dnesh D'Souza my political question for half a decade. (Trumpets sound in the back)
They talked about sports and we talked about the wedding. Me and Jessica's mom used to be very close and for some reason I just knew I needed to back off. It's a good thing I did too. She is now meddling in her relationship. It is terrible. She is marrying this guy and they are telling her not to spend too much time together. Oh Brother!!
So I did my persuasive speech last night for my speech class on the evils of illegal immigration. I was talking to a 100% military crowd, but they were still wide-eyed. I think it was the tone in my voice. I quoted the Bible at the end in the call to action part and said, "What is it to gain the whole world, but lose your soul?" and then I said that we needed to stop the "Raping of America" Pretty good eh? I think I got through to them. hahahaha! Don't worry I used real facts in the other parts.
Kyle Fiske is running for representative in our district. He works with the NAE and goes to my church. He is only like 26 or so, but I think I am going to get involved with his campaign. I would love for him to win. It really paves the way for people like me to step in.
I was talking to Matt about it last night referring to Dnesh D'Souza and Kyle Fiske on some level too, that so many people dismiss Christians in politics these days because their whole reasoning for things is Bible verses. That's great in their personal life, but I like D'nesh and Kyle because even though they are Christians they provide real logic and incorporate history and all these EDUCATED elements into what they believe. The Bible does say that when called upon we need to be ready to give an account for what we believe and why. I don't think Paul was just talking about religious beliefs either. I personally don't think you can separate the two, political and religious from each other. God cares about our lives in all aspects not just if we go to church. That is a huge difference in many muslims and Christians today. Anyway, I think D'nesh and Kyle bridge the gap nicely and it allows them to be both strong Christians and respected politically as well.
