Age: Three years old, going on sixteen.
Gender: Female
Fandom: Kingdom Hearts
Timeline: Taken from the end of Kingdom Hearts 2, after Kairi rejoins her friends in Destiny Islands
History:
Naminé's history Character Personality:
Naminé is one of special beings called Nobodies, ones that manifest after a heart leaves its body and soul behind. Nobodies are with humanoid forms, such as Naminé herself and a select number of others are different from the others in a way that they retain their memories because of their whole selves' (termed as Other) strong heart. As the heart and the body are separated, the Nobodies are left with the feeling of being incomplete, they rely on the memories they retained from their Others to mimic who they were before. This conflict of being unable to express the feeling of emptiness gives birth to what is coined as “lacking a heart,” a sentiment that is taken almost literally by every Nobody. However, Naminé's own birth was of special circumstances - she was born of Kairi's heart leaving Sora's body, but Kairi was a Princess of Heart, unable to create a Heartless and so the memories she possessed weren't passed onto Naminé as it should have.
Born in Castle Oblivion without memories and a set personality, she was found by the Organization XIII and was promptly trained to be meek, obedient and to acknowledge her lack of a heart. But as she doesn’t have memories and can honestly feel, she is set aside as an odd Nobody and isolated as a flaw, this training seem to be the case with everyone she's worked with, from the Organization itself and later, DiZ. She eventually grew out of most of these labels as time passed and met and interacted with more people.
She's often thought of as docile and meek because of her non-confrontational personality, something that could be attributed to her once-belief that Nobodies were not meant to exist. She knows better now that she's half of her Other, and is independent from them. While she doesn't mind going along with other peoples' plans and ideas, Naminé has shown that she can put her foot down, often in a subversive manner. She's pretty sneaky too; she knows that she blends to the background easily and uses that as a way to do what she thinks is right.
Naminé is also quite intuitive and can grasp peoples' emotions and thoughts and knows well enough what and when to say something to ease their worries, often feeling for them herself - side-effects of being a Princess of Heart's Nobody.
She has been referred to and has called herself a witch. While she's not proud and feels quite guilty of what she's done to others with her powers of manipulating people all because of her loneliness, she has resigned herself to the fact that her powers are more destructive than helpful. She has determined herself never to use her powers to hurt anyone anymore, and that same resolve has become the reason why she has grown. Despite this, however, Naminé’s self-esteem and views of her self-worth is lower than what she actually shows other people, especially other Nobodies.
As Naminé will be taken from a point where she was united with Kairi and had been secure in her existence, the separation will make her prone to bouts of insecurity and lack of self-esteem. Before rejoining her Other, Naminé had been so sure that there would be nothing left of her and that she would have no existence. Proven wrong later when she realizes that Nobodies do become 'complete' after joining, Naminé finds herself elated that while she doesn't have autonomy nor independence while in Kairi's self, she could be considered an entity that (has a right to) exist(s) though only as an attachment of Kairi.
Character Abilities:
Naminé has the ability to manipulate the memories of any person who has contact with Sora and Sora himself. The metaphor she often uses and associates with her power are chains - each link is a memory and her ability allows her to unlink the chains, re-linking the chains and crafting her own links. In this way, she is able to manipulate reality to an extent, creating objects based from the new memories she's made. She also displayed the ability to shatter the chains of memories, an act that breaks the heart of the person it's used on. She channels her ability through her drawings, child-like renditions of the memories, but it might only be a focus - she had no problem shattering memories without the use of a medium. This ability most likely stems from being Kairi’s Nobody. Kairi herself is a Princess of Heart, who is a being of pure light and has a greater sensitivity to darkness and also the workings of a person’s heart.
Another ability she has as a Nobody is the power over the darkness. She's able to use the Corridors of Darkness to travel stealthily from one point to another.
Character Weaknesses: Naminé is a person who isn't suited for fighting at all. She's neither strong nor fast and her abilities are more suited for support or even useless in battle as it's quite selective. But while those qualities may be balanced out by her weapon abilities, her main weakness would be fear - fear of herself and what she has done and can do.
Empathic for a Nobody, even a special one, Naminé doesn't like causing hurt upon others after all that she's done. She doesn't want to hurt anyone, not with her abilities. Also, with the game setting's aversion to witches, she would likely feel unwelcome and undeserving to be in Death City because of her moniker back in her world - the "witch of memories."
[ MEISTER SECTION ]
Why your character should be a Meister:
Naminé is the Nobody of a Princess of Heart and brought up as a tool to manipulate the keyblade master. She has always been the odd one and was quite aware that she was dispensable, useful for now but not valuable - nothing. Becoming a Weapon, to her, is only a different title for a position that she already has. But being a Meister is an entirely different situation altogether and one where she would have to step up and prove herself. Learning to believe in herself and in her right to exist, however, is a task that she would have to face to become an effective Meister and the development towards that is a notion I would like to explore.
Also, as half of a Princess of Heart, Naminé would have a better understanding of how people tick and have higher chances of resonating with any weapon.
[ SOUL INFORMATION ]
Soul Description:
passive, insightful, kind-hearted, empathic, determined and patient
Soul Appearance:
Naminé's soul is light yellow in color, bordering on while. This is to show that she is a person who can easily fade to the background or even just not be noticeable at all, and follows her appearance: pale skin, light blonde hair and preference for white clothing. A simple-looking soul, with two tails on the left as she would usually wear her hair, and consternated expression is hardly seen as her own feelings are often ignored by others.
Visual representation. [ SAMPLES ]
First Person:
I can't go home. I've tried everything I can to get back but... nothing.
I don't have a Keyblade. That person... will he-? No. I... I don't want to burden him more than I have already.
[silence]
The other me... would she even notice?
Third Person:
She feels the tear first. But she wouldn't know it to be a tear, really, just aching emptiness when something was taken away. It hurts and she recognizes the feeling very well, and it's all Naminé can do to breathe through the panic though she isn't sure if she knows how to breathe or remembers how. She feels dizzy and what she can see is nothing but a blur of color. It's almost as if it's fading from her sight.
She doesn't remember tearing like that before, but knows the aching loneliness afterwards. The emptiness.
It's all in her mind. The colors of the world and its lines remain the same as she saw before the tear. She knows that they never once faded. She feels incomplete again. She had hoped, wished, dreamed...
There is someone talking to her. How this world works, what she can and should do now, no way to return home. There are witches. War. It makes no sense and only sense. It all echoes in the cavity of her chest, hollow. It's all in her mind.
She doesn't have a heart to feel. Not true not true not true. She has to believe it. It's all in her mind, though. She just isn't sure what it is, exactly.
Naminé feels sick.
