Team Sleep
So last night I went and saw Team Sleep.
Best show I've been to in a long time. For those not in the know, Team Sleep is Chino from the Deftones Side project. I'd kind of guitars meets Trip-Hop. Hard to define, so I won't just have a look if your interested.
Anyway went in, and for some reason they made us wait out the front an hour after the door were meant to open, and tried to fiugre out where Jensetsfire was for most of the support bands set. They were called "Long Walk Home" and were interesting. Met up with Jen, and her friend Sarah. Just chatted a little but it was kind of to loud to say to much.
Set up right in front of the stage, so spent the whole set stand about 1 metre from Chino's Mic stand. Awesome. For some reason camera's weren't allowed into the venue, but Sarah had got one in, and we used my shoulder as a tri-pod to get some photos. No idea what they look like, but hopefully I'll find out soon. The band where amazing, Chino was well Chino, always gold, moving around on stage working the crowd just everything. The drummer(Zack) played so hard, and so much his entire set seemed like one big drum fill. I really couldn't see much of the guitarist(Todd) nor what DJ Crook were up to, but the bass player(Rick) looked pretty bored throughout the whole set. They had a really nice Visual sequence going behind the stage too, with everything from old war movies to softcore porn.
Of course the sign of a good show is the set seeming to be to short, and this show was over way to fast. I managed to score one of Chinos picks from a roadie afterwards. It was one he dropped mid set and has all wear marks all over it. Cool. The girls got a pick each as well. Sarah got thrown one but it slipped through her fingers but i managed to get my foot over the top of it. Then some guy crawling on his hands and knees tried to lift my size 13 shoes off it, saying "Come on Dude". I explianed that it was hers and he accepted that with little grumbling.
Post show I went to Ali's chilled there for the rest of the night, and tried to get some sleep, but couldnt as I was still hyped from the show. Think I drifted off around 3:30.
Awesome night, hope they make it back soon.
