next time you should be more careful who you're sitting next to (backdate to this morning)

Aug 22, 2010 16:03

[Video clicks on from atop the armoire at the other end of the bedroom. The sun is just beginning to light the shadows, filtering in through the Roman blinds in Natasha's room. A quiet beep to her right signals a message on her PDA but when she moves to roll and snatch it up like most every other morning, she's halted by a tug at her shoulder; ( Read more... )

[That first tug is enough to begin to rouse him; the lifting of his hand is more than enough to finish the job. He doesn't move for a second, instead taking in as much of the situation as he can without giving away that he's woken up.

Then he acts fast, opening his eyes and immediately reaching for the wrist of the hand with the knife.]

I think you've the better idea with the pin. This one's a little big to be used picking locks, wouldn't you say?

[And he smiles, completely unfazed by the situation. Which probably doesn't make him any less suspicious. Nor does the fact that he's clad only in his underwear. But heaven forbid he ever seem out of sorts.]

I would agree with your assessment, yes.

[Her suspicion isn't necessarily confirmed, but 'Natalie' is intrigued now. Jack seems to be a little more than he would like them to believe, and if that more is dangerous and willing to act it out on the defenseless assistant, she'll be happy to correct his misconceptions. At least she's wearing a t-shirt and panties.

She twists instinctively, dropping the pin from her fingers but tightening grip on the knife in her palm. All while tugging with her handcuffed hand to try and bring him closer, and make the grappling a little more ugly in an attempt to gain an upper hand.]

['Jack' has, by his estimation, already revealed more than enough this weekend alone. He's not particularly inclined to reveal more, but he has a feeling he's not going to get out of this without doing so.

Oh, well.

He lets Natasha take the upper hand, his surrender graceful in its own way--for the fact that he continues smiling serenely if nothing else.]

In that case, why let go of the pin? I want these cuffs off as much as you do, I assure you.

[His voice drops, loses some of its airy charm.]

This isn't my doing.

I'd like to keep you closer until I verify your claims.

[Natasha doesn't relent just because Jack does, instead pushing further to attempt to get physically atop him, swinging her arm forward in order to try to hold her knife (that is so very bad for picking locks) at his throat.]

Whose doing would it be? [But even as she asks, she's allowing herself to realize the facts, here. Her apartment, her bed, no memories and mysteriously cuffed to a coworker she wouldn't have approached unless she had reason to.]

Yes, that's right.

[Among others.]

And you'd be Xander.
