Gabriel had been intending to only get one. Really, he had. A companion for a friend who seemed to need one, but then they were all there, and sweet, and when he'd picked out the one, the only one, he was going to get, they started crying. And it started to cry. And he didn't know what to do. The person selling them said that they always did that, naturally because they were being separated from their family, but that they would soon get over it, as all dogs did. But Gabriel didn't have the heart to separate them, so instead, he ended up with them all.
