life lessons from "legalizing misandry"

On Essentialism:"Ideological feminists do hold out some hope for men, but only to the extent that men are willing to stop being men. From this it follows that feminists may blame those men who are unwilling to do the right thing. This has become clear in their response to recent developments in medicine. Given the relentless hostility of ( Read more... )

He's not capable of being intellectually honest and yet he's going to sum up feminism for us? Sure, dude, whatever. What's this fucker's name again?

Paul Nathanson and Katherine Young. They're both in the religious studies department (WTF?) at McGill.

Yeah, I saw that. Um, who's your buddy on the other post about this? Fighting back....against women? Sheesh, yeah, that's a burning necessity.

Yeah, that kind of surprised me. But frankly I hadn't been paying much attention to his posts lately, so I guess I didn't notice him going all MRA.

Christ. I know there are men who get really shafted in divorces, but my post wasn't even about that!

Of course it was all about that! If it wasn't for feminism, women wouldn't have the right to sue for divorce, and then a man could keep everything that's "his." Including the chattel.

Ah! And then he wouldn't have to deal with this super-confusing "yes" and "no" stuff, because he could just cover her mouth with duct tape and go at it! Marital rape exemption, baby!

Please, Elinor. Let's be honest. Marital rape doesn't exist. The woman consented! And consent lasts indefinitely!

Evidently he gets his news from Montel who is, of course, a totally unbiased source. Sheesh.

Yeah, I wonder if he thinks it's so great being a woman if he'd like to have an impromptu sex change? I'm sure I could do all kinds of surgery off the cuff.

Any book that tries to make Lorena Bobbitt look like a representative of both a crime wave sweeping the nation's men and feminism is not based on earth logic. Plus, you know, if men were really being abused in such horriffic and numerous ways I doubt like hell that stoic male character would prevent them from whining to the heavens about it. Sheesh, look at MRAs. What do they do but whine all the time when they don't get to abuse their exes any longer? They've got 'ill-gotten power and control' confused with 'rights' and even the fact that what they want is power over other people hasn't given them a clue at all.

Oh, and it cites Strauss and Gelles, in exactly the way Strauss and Gelles have themselves asked not to be cited. And quotes lengthy passages from Warren "It's Okay To Fuck Your Kids" Farrell.

I accept that the law school library chose to buy this book, but I sure as hell don't understand it.

You know, neither Strauss nor Gelles would ever be mistaken for a feminist, and Farrell is of course Mr. Nostalgai for Date Rape, so this guy is beyond creeping me out.

I've reached the level of cynicism where I sometimes think I should just not waste any time at all on any guy who's younger than thirty, period. It's like they're all in extended puberty till then.

Alas, I don't think it stops at thirty.

Argh, and if you dare suggest that they not be an ass by treating you as less than human they then freak out and whine about how mean you are to them.

Notice none of them offers to be a woman, though, for all the power we supposedly have? Hm, how odd.

Eh, I know lots of nice guys under thirty, or at least guys who can accept the radical proposition that "stop" means "stop." But the machismo bullshit ruins any number of men.

Me too, and under 20 come to that. They just tend to be quieter, or perhaps less noticeable. Problem is once you have seen the machismo bullshit you are wary of it and notice men who are like that more than the men who aren't - at least that's what I found.
