[Shopping really did make everything better. Kate had fun using one of the lovely automa dolls to grab clothes for Caterina to try. She even found a way to change it to carry her voice. It made them speaking to her in the store a little less strange she hoped.]

[It had been so very long since she had even considered wearing colors, that the very idea seemed strange. And exceedingly attractive, as well. She accepted the dress from the doll, inspecting the stitching, the cream-colored lace.]

How very beautiful, Kate. You don't think I will look too pale in this?

[Isaak was simply doing his best to stay out of the way. There were far too many colors and far too many bows, and everything in this place looked far too delicate. Rarely had he ever felt quite so out of his element as he did now. And now that his two female companions were merrily chatting away as they fawned over the pretty dresses it was even worse. So he had taken to examining a table upon which was strewn a large collection of lace. Just lace. Scraps, perhaps? he wondered as he picked up piece. Why would they leave their scraps piled up in the middle of the store?]

[Kate trailed off. He couldn't have what she thought he did in her hands...could he?!]

Instinctively, Isaak dropped the bit of lace and moved to stand in front of the table as if he thought he could hide whatever atrocity he had apparently committed. A moment later, however, it occurred to him that such tactics had never worked when he was a child either, and besides what did he have to hide? He frowned at the doll Kate was using.

What are you on about? They're just scraps of lace.

[She glances over to see what all the fuss is about, and her expression blends bemusement with embarrassment.]

...No. They aren't just scraps of lace. Pay a little better attention.

[He frowns at her for a moment, at a loss as to what she could possibly mean. But a few moments of very close inspection make it clear that there is a bit more to what he holds than initially met the eye.]

Oh, my goodnes... Are these...?

[He can't quite bring himself to say it.]

[He immediately flings aside the pair he's been so closely examining.]

[She steps to one side to avoid getting underwear tossed in her face. Really, if that had happened, one doubts he would survive the experience.]

[Kate sighed loudly.] You were holding a woman's thong!

[He clears his throat, straightens his tie, makes an attempt to compose himself and to not think about that fact that he's just spent an inordinately long period of time idly fondling a pile of women's underthings. Fortunately, Kate's exclamation offers him a distraction.]

I didn't throw them at her.

[He crosses his arms, and looks almost like himself again, but then there's that word and he's... Well, he might just be blushing.]

[She smiles a small, mischievous smile. Something about this is entirely too hilarious.]

I can't imagine how you missed that. My goodness, you've been in that corner since we walked in.

He has. [Kate wasn't adding in on the jab. She was mortified.]

Oh Lord we'll never be able to show our faces here again.

[He gives Caterina a rather pointed look.]

I'm afraid my experience with women's undergarments is rather limited. And I was only trying to stay out of the way.
