Random Thoughts + BSG Poll

Finally caught an episode of FNL, and it's the season finale! Luckily the DVDs are coming out soon. So, Coach Taylor = Coriolanus, Y/N? ;)

Also rewatched the premier of Farscape. I'm still a bit iffy on the series as a whole, especially John, who seems a bit bland, if very nice and VERY easy on the eyes. But I do believe that Officer Aeryn Sun ( Read more... )

Not even a favorite character, but he's all bragging it up on the podcast about how he kept Sam around because the fans didn't like it and we're not the boss of him, and what the hell Dee, Cally and Tory?!?!

Ugh, this is why I can't listen to those and keep my sanity.

But if SaGN was the last we saw of Adama, I'd be ok with that. He continues his breakdown, and then we're done. Works for me. :) I don't even mind them breaking Laura here, because it makes complete sense that this would be what does it for her. In both cases, Laura especially, the things I hate come from the continuing fail in later episodes, not necessarily what they set up here. Plus we'd get the Final Cylon crap out of the way (and stay dead) and end on a vaguely hopeful, but probably doomed note of them getting their shit a little bit together and starting the next futile quest. But, yeah, Dee. We'd still lose Dee. *ponders*

I have to agree with beccatoria about keeping the info from No Exit, it worked really well for me. Hmm, if I'm being cooly logical though, I'd just ax it and stick it in the Plan though so I could continue to love my show.

But really, what I forgot to do, before I headed off on my tangent, was encourage you to stick with you to stick with John in Farscape. I think maybe he's so bland in the beginning partly because he's supposed to be our entry POV into this alien place. So he gets a lot of stuff projected onto him rather than being a 3D character. And the show really does find its footing and set off some of the best television I've ever seen.

And Aeryn is so seriously kickass she'd be worth watching even if the rest of it sucked. <3. I would even say read Jacob's recaps (*ducks*), I read those and loved them long before I headed over to BSG land. Much, much better.

Yes, this. (I came over here to say that and you beat me to it... though I haven't finished season one yet, so now I'm watching with the rewatch group, woohoo!)

This too! :D

But if SaGN was the last we saw of Adama, I'd be ok with that.

You're nicer than I am. ;) My hatred of him was pretty much irrevocably cemented at that point. Dee's death was not about you, Admiral Emo. And then trying to commit suicide-by-Cylon with Tigh - GRR! Grow some balls and do it yourself. Don't manipulate your best friend into doing it for you with no regard for the fact that it would utterly destroy him, by calling his dead wife a filthy whore.

To be fair, I started disliking him back in early season three, when Kara and Tigh were brutally tortured and he... made it all about him and told them they might as well shoot him in the head if they weren't going to suck it up and be all smiles. So this was just the clincher.

I don't even mind them breaking Laura here, because it makes complete sense that this would be what does it for her. In both cases, Laura especially, the things I hate come from the continuing fail in later episodes, not necessarily what they set up here.

I'm conflicted, because I hate everything they did to her character after SaGN, and at the same time, had her story ended there, it would have totally negated her entire journey up to that point. And Kara's too. I guess the thing is to end canon there, but not end the story. *nods*

*nods* I think that's what I was trying to say, yes. Because if circumstances had ended it there, I would always believe that there would have been payoff for everything they had set up. It's not...satisfying, but it's doable for me.

And, yeah, it was the episode where I decided I absolutely hated Bill Adama, but it was kind of freeing to never have to make excuses for his crazy ass ever again. The downside of my tuning him out turned out to be missing almost all of the Laura bits we got, but hey, I skipped over most of the rage into complete apathy so...win? :(

Can I keep repeatedly changing my vote? Or maybe just pretend all of the awesome stuff from later (No Exit, mutiny, STWOM, parts of Daybreak) were just flash forwards beamed directly to my brain by God. :P
