Your point is made. *g*
But I love to imagine there was some Cylon version of Lee Adama waiting on the baseship to make an elegant speech in her defense, rather than a three-second court martial like Cain was so fond of.)
Heh - I like this idea a lot. I mean, even we toaster-lovers have to admit the Cylon version of the "forgiven!" speech would be much more impressive than poor Lee's. ;)
I wonder what he'd say if the rebels wanted to bring their long shiny robot arm of justice down on Athena for that time she put two holes in Natalie
Oh My God I had not even thought of that. *bounces up and down in rage* Of course, he actually told Athena that the worst thing about what she'd done was that she broke a promise to HIM. So now that he's over that, he'd probably be like "what's your problem with Athena? It's okay! I forgave her! Nice of you to think of me and all...."
And frantic nodding to everything else you said. All she did was vote! Killing her as their first act of representative democracy is So Wrong.
And so yeah, since given what they knew, I don't think they were justified in killing her, I'm not going to retroactively justify it for them even though it turned out to be all part of her plan.
Unlike you, I am a little pissed at Roslin too, but the one thing I'll say in fairness to her is that she's *always* had a hard time giving any toasters the benefit of the doubt, so it's much less hypocritical with her than Adama. So I can buy that she doesn’t care about Boomer the Master of Emotional Manipulation (WTF?) and she wants her dead.
I was a little angry with her at first, but then I saw lots of people being REALLY angry, and so now I'm not anymore. ;) The way I make sense of the "Boomer as master of emotional manipulation" thing is that it was a part of her programming to fall in love with Chief - or whoever would be in the best position to help her without drawing too much attention - and get him to cover for her the way she did. It wasn't really manipulation, because she didn't know what she was doing, but she still has that skill-set.
Athena did do it consciously, and even though they're about as far from being the same person now as they can get in some respects, it's still hard for anyone to draw a firm line, given that their whole relationship with Athena is informed by their history with Boomer. I mean, she and Kara talk about Zak! And so that's probably informing Roslin's view of her.
Also, I wonder if she knows that Boomer was one of the leaders on New Caprica. If she holds her responsible for that, that's got to cement the idea that she's dangerous even more.
But yeah, there was a really strong case to be made in her favor, too, and I wish someone had made it. Especially to Adama. :P
Ahahahaha, I just realized that maybe when the fake daughter disappeared at the end, it was because Chief didn't love Boomer enough anymore.
