Here is one of my new newts, Eric. Or it might be John, so far I'm having a fair deal of trouble telling them apart. After almost a month of pestering/gently reminding Tara to bring some in for me, she finally did. They're very tiny, just over an inch long each. I'm not sure if they get much bigger or not, I suppose I will see.
Many names were considered for them, including a lot of pretentious scientist names. Nick won though, he suggested John and Eric. If you don't know the significance of John and Eric, you've been living under a rock for the last 30+ years.
So far they've been a little uninteresting, but I'm going to account this to the fact that they're still getting used to their new environment, because they seem to be swimming around a little more now than when they were first put in the aquarium.
My room mate Erica hates them and says that if they ever get into her room she'll squish them. I thought this was a needlessly bitchy thing to say considering that it would be terribly hard for them to escape and I doubt that if one did, it would make it out of my room (they tend to dry up rather quickly) But despite Erica's stupid girly reaction to them, I think they're rather cute.
