This is Kani, finished, with Sumomo and a penny for scale. You can just barely see the blush around Kani's spots in this picture. I'm going to have to figure out a way to photograph her with more detail for Etsy.
Here they are from behind. It's a little hard to see here, but Kani has a single point at the back of her hairline and Sumomo has two. Most of the girls will have two points in their hairline. Awww crud...now I'm not satisfied and am going to have to take another picture.

I took Kani and Sumomo to work a day or two ago. They were very popular. Today a couple of my coworkers actually mentioned having thought about them since, either making jewelry with them in their heads or just liking the sound of "kokeshi." The fact that they stuck with people, even a little bit, is a good sign I think.
I've got the wooden base done for Kaeru (frog) and almost done for Ichigo (strawberry). I've just got to round out Ichigo's head a little more and then I'll be ready to paint them too.
