Here's my contribution to the "five things" meme:

Questions provided by the wonderful sirenofodysseus.

1. If you could meet anybody in the world (dead or alive), who would you meet and why?

Oh gosh, only one person? I must admit that the first person that popped into my head would be Queen Elizabeth I. I've always been fascinated with her, ever since I read the book featuring her in the Royal Diaries series. I'd love to hear her thoughts on being a queen regnant in a world dominated by men, and what she thinks women are capable of. I'd also like to learn her reasons for never marrying--we have plenty of conjectures but nothing in her own words. I'd like to learn about how her mother's death affected her, and if she and Robert Dudley really were lovers, but those last two might be considered an impertinence.

2. If you owned your own zoo (or aquarium), what types of animals would you keep? Do they have names?

Aside from the fact that I pretty much work at a zoo of a restaurant, I would definitely have a whole exhibit full of frogs (of course) from all over the world. (I'd be certain to have lots of beautiful blue ones.) I'd have to have some giraffes for my sister, and she would be their primary caretaker. I'd have to put in some big cats, like lions and tigers and jaguars (oh my!), and bears, and maybe some dolphins, and my mother would insist on meerkats because they're so funny. I'd also keep a lot of birds and fish. (Maybe even a separate exhibit for the guys from my work. ;) ) I honestly think I'd run out of names for them, but I'm sure my sister would help me, as well as my friends.

3. If you were banished to a deserted island and you were allowed to take ten (and only ten) items with you, what items would you take? (This island can have electricity or not, it's up to you.)

I'm going to play with the "rules" a little bit here and say that the first thing I would take would be one of Jimmy Neutron's hypercubes, because then I could pack whatever I needed and it would be in one container. XD If that's not acceptable, though, I would bring a bookcase full of my favorite books, my medicine, my laptop, some flint and/or matches, a tent, one of those gizmos to get the salt out of the water (if there's no freshwater on the island), my dad (he's not an item but he'd be very useful), Jack Sparrow (ditto on being useful, he could rope a whole bunch of sea turtles together and get us off the island, but only if we bribed him with something), a first-aid kit, and cooking implements.

4. If you could write any genre in the world, what genre would you be most likely to pick and why?

Definitely YA fantasy--that's mostly what I read, and I actually have a few ideas for books. I just love the genre because there's just so much you can do with it, and it doesn't have to include paranormal things, even though that's pretty much all you see in the Barnes and Noble YA section. :P (Don't get me started.)

5. What is something you would love to get paid for that you do now for free?

I'm sure sirenofodysseus could figure out this one on her own, but for the rest of you, I will say that it would definitely be "babysitting" the guys at work. Definitely don't get paid enough for doing that. (And if I got paid for every time I said/wrote the word "definitely," I would be a very rich woman.)
