the strongest return

Oct 01, 2010 10:18

[Hello, Mayfield! It's 6 in the morning, and what better rude awakening is there than an exceptionally loud phone call?]

DAMMIT, NOT THIS STUPID PLACE AGAIN!

[Cirno slams the phone down, but she picks it up again about fifteen seconds later.]

HEY EVERYBODY, WANNA HEAR ABOUT HOW AWESOME I AM?! I BEAT MARISA! TRUE STORY!

what is volume control, it's important okay, triumphant return, what is curbing my enthusiasm, obnoxiously loud

Good morning, Cirno. And how was your visit home?

It was awesome, Miss Susan! I beat up the people who wrecked my house an' then I beat up Marisa to celebrate!

Excellent. Never take an offense lying down.

. . . You beat up Marisa, though? That's a bit odd, although I suppose I should stop being surprised at nonsensical things.

Well, I was feelin' real great after I beat 'em, an' I wanted to fight some more but I didn't wanna fight any more fairies 'cuz I already knew I could beat all of 'em. An' Marisa came along an' I challenged her an' then we fought!

Certainly, I don't doubt that. But what I mean is that Marisa has been here the entire time you've been gone, you see.

...Huh?

Assumedly, the Marisa here is still the Marisa of the past. If this is to make sense at all -- and if you really are from the exact same world -- she's got to return as well sometime to carry out the events that you've already experienced.

Rather a headache, isn't it?

What?

[Oh, dear.]

More simply, you and Marisa both came here from the around the same time period. Is that right?

However, you returned home -- perhaps a few weeks or months passed there. But Marisa stayed here. She hasn't gone through it yet since she never went home. Do you understand more clearly or should I draw you a diagram?

So...the Marisa here doesn't remember me beatin' her up 'cuz it hasn't happened to her yet?

Then I just gotta beat her up again!

Precisely.

Only if she agrees to it in a fair fight. If she doesn't believe you, you'll simply have to show her how much stronger you've gotten.

I'm gonna wait 'til I have Perfect Freeze to fight her again! So then I can do 'zactly what I did back in Gensokyo!

And what was that?

I froze her danmaku! But then she shot some fire at me, so I used Perfect Freeze to freeze that too! It was really awesome.

You froze fire?

[The laws of the universe are shattering around her as she speaks. Alas.]

I am impressed. You're absolutely certain of what you say? You didn't put it out? You froze fire?

Yup! The fire was still inside the ice, an' it couldn't get out!
