Gatlinburg Vacation

Jul 19, 2009 21:17

Well this would have been posted daily, but lack of internet put a stop to that lol.

Day 1(Monday)
Rocky start in the morning, had some issues that turned out not to be an issue at all. So we left around 10 am that morning. The drive wasnt too bad. I had Jenelle take over for about an hour while I took a nap. We finally got into The Pigeon Hell/Forge area around 3:30 I think. Well apparently thats rush hour for them. It was bumper to bumper traffic for the next hour, it was a 10 mile stretch. We get to our cabin/cottage/house place. It is freaking amazing, had 3 bedrooms, a TV in everyroom with 102" screen with projector in the basement, hot tub a awesome kitchen and a grill. This place was better than my house house lol. We went out to dinner that night then came back and crashed, we were all pretty tired from the drive.

Day 2 (Tuesday)

We got about 9am, had breakfast and took a drive to go on our 4.5 mile hike, ugh, to go see a water fall. The hike was uphill most of the time and a rock and root covered path, probably rolled my ankle a good 3 times lol. Jenelle sprained hers pretty bad. It was a nice hike though, the waterfall was gorgeous. We saw 3 snakes during the hike and Jenelles dad picked up one of them(wasnt poisonous) and was playing with the snake. After we got back from the hike we had an early dinner and set out to go shopping in downtown Gatlinburg. There were a lot of fun shops there. There were two very awesome shops there, one was the PEACE FROGS store(look at icon) and another store called Earthbound which had some cool things in it and had some good costuming for NERO. After shopping we went to a video rental store and rented a movie, Inkheart, and watched it on the big screen TV. I fell asleep during, like 20 mins into the movie lol.

Day 3 (Wednesday)

White water rafting day!!!!!!!! We went White water rafting down the Pigeon river. This river had four class 4(being the toughest rapid) rapids several class 2 and 3s. The first class 4 we went down, Chris(Jenelle's dad) and Andrew(Jenelle's brother) went off the tube into the rapids, it was freaking hilarious. Our guide pulled them and they were ok, a bit wet and cold, but ok. Our rapid tripped lasted about two hours. It was a lot of fun, got very wet and paddled a lot LOL. After we got back from that we had dinner, grilled bbq chicken it was freaking delicious. Wednesday was also the premier of the new Harry Potter movie, so we found a theater that was showing and we tried to go see the 10:05 showing, we got there about 845, 9 oclock to get tickets. They had been sold out for that showing for the past 3 hours. So we bought tickets for the same time the next day. Well we were all a bit dissapointed so went to Baskin and Robins for ice cream(they like 30 of these throughout Gatlinburg), which got all the kids very hyper. Then we went to Blockbuster to rent a nother movie to watch that night, we got the Haunting in Connecticut and Push(actually bought that one). Then headed back to the cabin and watched Push and ate popcorn and had a good ole time. Yeah I fell alseep during this movie too, about 45 mins into it LOL.

Day 4 (Thursday)

We went to a some cave and took a tour of it. It was pretty cool, it lasted about an hour or so. On our way back from the cave tour we decided to stop and take another hike. This was a 1.3 mile hike(one way) all uphill. It was a bit miserable. Though the waterfall up at the top was pretty cool looking, and the path was completely paved all the way up, so it made it easier to walk up. So we went back home grilled out hamburgers and hotdogs for dinner, and decided that we were going to go do gokart racing that night at NASCAR speedway. It was a lot of fun had some cool tracks, and cars. Unfortuantely though we could only stay for a little bit becuase we had tickets to go see Harry Potter that night. The movie was good, it was a bit dissappointing on some things they left out, but all in and all it was good.  When we got home I realized that I had left my wallet at the theatre, well the movie place wasnt 10 mins down the road it was like an hour and they were already closed by the time our movie was over with. So I called the place and left a message for them to have them call me back ASAP if they found it.

Day 5 (Friday)

Well I called the theater again in the morning, still no answer from them. Well around 1030am, I get a call from the manager saying she has my wallet and its in the managers office. PHEW, so i figure whatever is left in it is safe and can wait till we get back from tubing. We went tubing all day down the Little Pigeon river. It had some rapids in it, it was about 1.5 mile long tube ride, we did it 3 times. This was a blast, though I did get sun burnt lol, it hurts. I got flipped by one of the rapids and my tube went floating down the river about 100 feet down very sharp and slick rocks, and I was barefoot lol. Luckily I have a very loving girlfirend who had water shows and saved my feet and brought me my tube back. Jenelle is AWESOME!!! After we get done tubing I head back to the movie Theater where I left my wallet, and picked it up. Thankfully nothing was taken from it. Coming back from the Theater we take a scenic route and discover this HUGE FREAKING house that probably has its own zipcode, this house had 4 stories, probably 20 rooms and a bunch of other stuff, it was freaking amazing. Crashed friday night, didnt do much of anything.

Day 6 (Saturday)

A group went to a bunch of the craft shops and shopped and looked around, 2 of the girls went horseback riding while Andrew, Hunter(Jenelles step brother) and I stayed back and lazed around till they got back. Once they got back Jenelle Andrew and I went back to downtown Gatlinburg and shopped a little more, I got a shotglass for Chris and me, got a shirt for jenelle and me, and got my mom a moon wind chime. Later that night we went to the Wood Grill Buffet, which was really really good food. I was stuffed beyond belief, and then once again we all crashed.

Day 7 (Sunday, Final day)

We wake up and start to pack up and make sure we have everything. Around 1015, we head out. We reach Pigeon HELL and sit in bumper to bumper traffic for the next 1.5 hours until we were able to get onto interstate 40, West bound to head home. Nothing to eventfull on the way home. We got back around 530 this evening. I was able to see my sister, Sarah, before she head back to Washtington DC.

So all in all it was a great vacation. I will be going back to work tomorrow, oh joy. Its all good have quite a few NERO events that I'm looking forward to in the next couple of months, July NCN, Cinci' Opener, Free Lumberton, and Ironpost's opener.
