The Vines launch of Melodia
Venue: The Forum @ Fox Studios
Filmed for Channel V
So the day was pretty bleak but come 4pm and I was bouncing around like a fool, excited that I was going out. So anyone who's ever been around me will know that I do not like catching buses, but I had big girl shoes on and caught one to fox. The show was intimate just industry and 50 fans and the best of all no barrier.
Opening song was "Get Out" and it sounded like it was going to be a good set then about 30secs in Craig stops the song and tells us that he would like to start again and that we should remember that we are at a gig so we should show some energy and I couldn't help but agree. So on with the show they went.
They had a lot more slow songs than what I expected and they weren't that bad but the faster songs were what I enjoyed the most. Although when they played "True as the night" it was great to see a 4 piece string band with them. "Merrygoround" was jarring with the change of tempo but it was great to act a fool to.
Towards the end it seemed like the mood was changing on stage, kind of like they wanted to get off the stage as quick as they could. This was when things got entertaining I guess there will always be people waiting for another chance to see Craig go off like he did all those years ago. That night though it all looked in fun, we got Craig using his guitar as a drum stick, then got to see how high he could throw it in the air and to end the night Craig accidently lets go of the guitar too early and it goes in the crowd and hits someone. From where I was standing it looked more like the girl was shocked then hurt, so I guess she'll have a good story to tell.
That was my first Vines gig I don't own any of their albums and after that night I'm still not in a hurry to go out and buy anything BUT I would mull over going to a show in the future.
