Instead of an SMD and quotes today I decided I was just going to post several quotes!
First, another by Franz Kafka... I know I just had one by him the other day but I just re-read Metamorphesis the other day so what can I say? I'm on a kick!
"There are some things one can only achieve by a deliberate leap in the opposite direction."
This second quote... I'm not sure yet on how I feel about it... what do you think?
"I pretended to be somebody I wanted to be until finally I became that person. Or he became me." ~ Cary Grant
If I'm doing bunches of quotes from all different places on many different topics I figure I should include some song lyrics too... anyone know the artist/song titles?
SONG 1: "Dress like a kid to make me feel young punk/ And talk junk/ You musta fell out of your bunk/ And smacked your head/ Or your face or somethin' "
SONG 2: "Feels like I'm looking at life/ Through a telescope because I'm so high/ And the ground never seemed so far away / Truth shall be told one day/ I'll be under ground one day"
SONG 3: "Young girl don't hide/ You'll never change if you just run away/ Young girl just hold tight/ Soon you're gonna see your brighter day"
Lastly, I sent this quote to cheer
lady_fetish up about some of the comments she was getting on her writing and she suggested that I share it with other writers as well so the last quote for the day is one that I found at the beginning of "So You Want To Be A Wizard" it is from "Midrashim" by Howard Schwartz...
"By necessity every book must have at least one flaw; a misprint, a missing page, one imperfection... the Rabbis... point out that even in the holiest of books, the scroll resting inside the Ark, the Name of Names is inscribed in code so that no one might say it out loud, and chance to pronounce properly the Word that once divided the waters from waters and the day from the night... As it is, some books, nearly perfect, are known to become transparent when opened under the influence of the proper constellation, when the full Moon rests in place. Then it is not uncommon for a man to become lost in a single letter, or to hear a voice rise up from the silent page; and then only one imperfect letter, one missing page, can bring him back to the land where a book, once opened, may still be closed, can permit him to pull up the covers around his head and smile once before he falls asleep."
... I love that it points out that even Holy texts divined by God have misprints and flaws! And that some stories are just so good and draw you so far in that there HAS to be some flaw so that you can come back to reality and not be completely sucked in forever! :D
