Thats not a duck! Its a Teletubbie!!!
Yesterday, one of my students was playing with a Teletubbie action figure. (We watch Teletubbies daily in my class because it seems to have a calming effect on some of my most severe bahavior problems.) This boy was making "quack" sounds while holding this action figure. Suddenly, from across the room, I hear another boy shout "Thats not a duck! Its a Teletubbie!!!" I peed my pants. It was so funny. In my wildest imagination, I never could have thought that I would one day here anyone say "Thats not a duck! Its a Teletubbie!" This will be a classic moment in my life!
On a more inspirational note, I received a letter from a parent this morning saying that there was a plumber at their house yesterday. The plumber asked the boy his name, (this child is basically non-verbal) and in his best voice, he told the plumber his first and his last name! His mom said this was the first time she has ever heard him say his last name! Yay!!
