Strike me down, Jesus!!!

So I'm sitting at my compueter early this afternoon looking at things that some would say are less than holy, when I get the biggest shock I have ever had (literally).

Suddenly, I hear the loudest noise I have ever heard and see a bright orange flash all around me. My moniter blows up in front of my face. Instantly, I jump out of my chair so quickly that I injured my back because I was terrified that I had just been struck by lightning or that lightning was going to strike me at any second. I ran downstairs and all around the house making sure everything was okay. The phones were all dead and some of the appliances were shot.

So I look out the window and get quite a suprise. My neighbors roof is partly in my yard, partly in the street, and partly in the yard next door to them. Then I look up at their house and there is smoke coming out of the huge hole now in their roof. I freak out, and I have no idea if anyone is home over there, so I call 911 and am trying to explain what is happening to the 911 operator. She finally understands what I am saying and says she is sending the fire department. Then I call my mom and try to tell her what is going on, and she finally tells me that I need to go make sure no one is home...good idea I guess. So I go over there, and the woman has no idea what is going on. She had been asleep and just thought it was really loud thunder. I was obviously more distressed than she was. I tell her that I already called 911 and they were on the way. So we stand outside in the rain and wait for the fire trucks.

At this point, there is really just some smoke and no obvious fire burning. Right before the fire trucks get though, there is a loud pop and the upstairs of the house bursts into flames. The fire department arrived within five minutes of my frantic call, and quickly went to work putting out the flames.

Luckily, their upstairs is just one large room over the garage, so the fire was contained to just that one room and the garage, but it was a pretty big fire and the upstairs is almost completely gone.

As I have said before, if you want to see bad weather, come sit by me.

I am now officially forever terrified of weather of any kind
