So I spent about 4 hours today sitting in a room in downtown Detroit being a minority, all for about 15 minutes of drug test/physical. And surprise surprise, they decided I'm physically capable of working! That certainly wasn't my favorite part of the day. Neither was getting lost on the way there and not even being able to find myself on the map.

But the library did have more books waiting for me than anticipated, so that was excellent news. One down so far. All this free time for reading is something I really miss during the school year. But I suppose the trade-off is I hang out with a much lower ratio of real-to-fictional people during the summer.

Also, it's just recently hit me that I'll be crossing picket lines every day to get to work this summer. Yikes. But apparently "there's been no violence in Detroit" (which is a fun phrase to take out of the AAM-specific context), just some guy who occasionally dresses up as Darth Vader. Luckily I've been practicing controlling the force, so I think I could handle him in a fight.

My grandma made peanut butter chocolate cheesecake, and it might be the best thing I've ever tasted.

Last night I learned that the Armenian Mafia hangs out at a Starbucks in the next town over. Really? They couldn't find somewhere more intimidating than a Starbucks?

comment if: you've got a working car you want to trade for a mostly-broken one.
