Tonsils suck, babies are love and AMC is keeping me company

Feb 08, 2009 12:02

Friday morning I woke up and my tonsils were swollen and sore. It's nothing unusual for me as my tonsils swell up often and really need to be removed. I promptly made an appointment to see my surgeon next week so I can get them taken out before I get pregnant this year. I am hoping that he will take them out and if he won't, I'll go to Zach's ( Read more... )

Good job on taking care of baby! You two work together well and you will make a great team when you have your 14 babies. And yes, you will catch up on a lot of movies or TV. When we would have the 2am feedings, we would watch our shows that we TiVo'd. Baby certainly makes the schedule for at least the first month - no getting around that!

I'm sorry about your tonsils. I hope you are able to have the surgery and get rid of the problem once and for all. Can I do anything to help?

The ad next to your post was for colic medicine for babies. So intuitive.

I am excited, it will be fun to watch a lot of tv.

There's not much to do for me regarding the tonsils, except wish that I can get them out. My surgeon is awesome, so hopefully he'll agree to take them out.

OMG, that is hillarious regarding the colic ad! The baby wasn't too fussy, but we could tell he was uncomfortable. Sarah says that happens and there's not much they can do except to comfort him. Zach was so helpful and sweet with the baby, so I know that when we have our own, I can count on him to be my equal.

It's amazing how many people come out of the woodworks to tell you about things they went through, all for support.
This is one thing I've learned through LJ.
I put some things out there feeling completely awkward, but needing to vent. I'm always amazed at how many people come forward with "I've been through that, too"

It's amazingly reassuring.

Seriously. I need to do a girls only post about some other subjects (just to save the menz) and I know that I will not be alone.

See if you can get all the documentation from your doctors regarding your tonsils...most surgeons are perfectly willing to take out tonsils, but insurance often won't pay unless you have a documented history of throat problems...it's an expensive surgery (aren't they all) and not one that insurance companies are willing to pay for often as they don't feel it is usually life-threatening.

Good luck...aw, you're getting preggers this years...a little Zach and Christina...man, everyone is growing up so fast!

Such a good idea. I am going to have my benefits lady get a prequal from my insurance before I do the surgery if the surgeon agrees to do it.

I feel so old lol

I had my tonsils removed back in college - best thing I ever did! I stopped getting infections (although I'd only had 2 but within 6 months), my constant halitosis stopped (did you want to know about my dragonbreath?), I stopped snoring, and my voice stopped sounding like I was always congested.

That last one was the most bizarre result - I'd heard my voice on voicemail recordings, and it was so THICK. When I saw the doc, he walked into the room and I said, "Hi, how are you?" and he said, "I can hear it in your voice, your tonsils are huge, when do you want them out?" A week later, DONE!

That is what everyone is telling me and I am so hopeful that getting them out will help a lot.
