So, on Wednesday I decided to check out my schedule, see if I had anything due for Friday besides my lab and a couple measly papers.
Oh yeah. Let’s try a 10 page paper for my end of the year project for SOC 201, where the only research I had done yet, I did a month ago. As a result, I woke up at eight in the morning yesterday, and haven’t been to sleep since then. I did homework all freaking day yesterday, did it all through the night, and then had to go to school without it done. *sigh* I had an exam in my first class, so I got there 20 minutes early in order to cram some studying in quick. I took the exam, ran around taking care of stuff, talk to Oegie for a moment in the midst of that, and then, when I was done running, and was going to the computer lab to finish my paper, Oegie was standing outside the classroom door… Godsend! I had had some coffee already this morning (my first since Thanksgiving), but she had with her a thing of orange juice, and a bagel with cream cheese!
I think I have some pretty amazing friends.
I then (after throwing down the whole orange juice in two minutes) went into the lab, and typed out the second half of my paper in one hour… glad that went faster than the first half! It was a lot easier, I guess, because I was simply thinking through the sociological perspective and writing down what I came up with in an “intelligent” manner, rather than the quote and cite of the first half. Therefore, I made it to SOC only 3 minutes late (with a full bladder), and was able to turn in my paper and act as calm as if I had not just spent all night on it.
I did feel bad about skipping French.
I didn’t make it through class with my full bladder… I had to go to the bathroom, leaving in the middle of class. *sigh* I hate doing that, I feel disrespectful. Better than the alternative, I guess. Then, as I went to HNR, I decided to join the anti-hate rally, and be late for HNR. After all, I had already told Jenny not to expect me… so me being late would be a good thing in comparison, right? And it ended up being pretty sweet, ‘cause I felt good for getting involved in that small way, and I got to see Tabbi whom I haven’t seen in a week, even if it was just for a brief moment.
It started raining again when the rally broke up, and I hadn’t even noticed it stopping.
I got to HNR, and of course the class was in full swing already, but the teacher at least looked pleasantly surprised to see me. I did feel a little bad though, especially as she brought brownies, which I couldn’t eat, having sworn off chocolate for Lent. The first few times the brownies passed me, I got away with not taking one, but then she noticed and asked me if I had gotten a brownie yet, so I had to confess. If it had been a week later, I would have been all over them, ‘cause they sure did look good.
I have a few more hours to stay awake before I can take a brief nap.
So last weekend was pretty awesome. I went to Bloomington, IN with the Ultimate team, where we played in a tourney run by a not-so-nice guy. We got stomped on by one really good team, stomped on a couple teams ourselves, and lost to Illinois because they started calling all these fouls when they realized they were losing. And the fouls weren’t really fouls, half of them. Where’s the spirit of the game, folks? However, we played against a team called Witnesses from Campsbellville, Kentucky, or someplace like that. They were pretty awesome, the most fun team there, and they had a GIRL on their team. Between Witnesses’ Katie, and GVSU’s Becky and I, there were 3 females in the whole tournament.
Hey, can’t beat the ratio.
In other news, we have another tourney this weekend, this one being in Lansing. It’s going to be on the City of Lansing soccer fields. And it’s going to be awesome. I want to go get cleats, but first I need to figure out how to get to the mall, and I need to be sure that I’m safe to drive, not in any danger of passing out behind the wheel. And to make the weekend more awesome, I get to see Jess, and play guitar with her, and stay with her. And that’s just awesome right there. I should probably figure out how I’m going to do homework this weekend, but I’m thinking the only time I have for that is on Sunday.
And we all know I never actually get my homework done if I leave it until Sunday.
Who am I kidding, I never do my homework anyway. Well, not until the last moment, as evidenced by the fact that I stayed up all night. I did take a little break yesterday, however, in order to make sour cream bread. Sour cream bread is pretty awesome. Moist and rich and flavorful and amazing like that. That’s definitely a recipe that needs to be remembered, I think. Coming home from Happening with a 5lb container of sour cream was the best thing to ever happen to me. Or at least, it would have been if my life was extremely sad. But it still was a good thing to have happen to me.
I really do sound like I’ve not gotten enough sleep…
Shutting up.
