wow.... I just went 6 weeks without internet access... record?
Yeah, so I've been at Cran-Hill during that whole time. I'm home now for the DCI Central Championships (which was AMAZING, by the way), but heading back to the Ranch tomorrow. As nice as my vacation was, I can't wait to get back. It's really been a blessing to be at camp this summer, and while it took a while, I've been getting what I wanted out of it. I've had a strong Christian community, and have been making friends that I will be able to lean on, and having been meeting goals that I set for myself (reading Bible more, becoming better musician, focusing on what's important in life).
Over this "vacation", I've been eating gross amounts of delicious food, trying everything new that my family has found at the stores. Thursday night, when we got home, I got some ice cream from Ritter's, and mom and I stopped by the high school (checking to see if there were any drum corps there), and I got to see Fitz, as she was teaching a class in the Teacher's Lounge.
Mom and I ate lunch at Los Amigos yesterday, which was delicious as ever. My right hearing aid has been acting up (screaming in my ear), so we took that in, and I'll get it back in August. I set up a checking account at 5/3 with my CHR paychecks and a check from GV, so that I have a way to buy groceries next year. Mom and I went to her physician and my (old) pediatrics in order to transfer my files over to the physician, and set up an appointment for August (A guy physician... eeks). I talked to one of my mom's friends up by Big Rapids, and she's taking me to church on the 31st with her.
Today, I made cookies in the morning (for Erik and for camp) and went to an art exhibit in the afternoon. The art exhibit was cool, particularly since I recognized a lot of the names (Dee Fitzsimmons, Frank Bylo, Helen Klezynski, Pat Otto, and a couple of mom's KIA friends). There was mostly paintings and drawings, but one of the exhibits (mom's friends) was of jewelry and weavings... I'll admit I got jealous, seeing all this jewelry and knowing that I have no access to metalsmithing or glass equipment right now. It was cool to see it, though. After the show, Dad and I stopped by his office, and ended up talking to his coworker, who was there at 11 at night so his wife could do some research in order to help her sister with her psychology thesis, over in China.
And of course, both last night and tonight was DCI Central Championships... I'll probably write up on those, but not right now... I need to go read, as I need to get "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince" read before I go back to camp tomorrow! Write me. :)
Love and God Bless,
Emma Catherine Tucker
