Dang it...I guess I should have changed poll 2 to say that I understand. I mean I do understand if people are offended BUT to me the fact that someone is expressing a sentiment of something good is good to me. If someone told me Happy Hanukkah I would not say "I AM NOT A JEW!" I would say "thanks! I hope yours is happy as well" I think it stinks when people have to be afraid to be nice. And for the record I try and give the appropriate greeting if I know the person whom I am greeting. I tell my friend Eid Mubarak but I am not a Muslim. But I hope that HER holiday is wonderful.
Yes, exactly! If someone wants to wish me happy whatever, then I am not going to be offended! I think it's great that you're wishing me happy anything! I don't like feeling like I can't say something nice for fear of offending them.
That's about how I feel. Too much time gets wasted on worrying about giving offense.
(but I also get annoyed at groups like focus on the family who inundate businesses with contact if they don't use Christian-specific language at this time of year.)
I agree with you on your statement regarding Christian groups. I'm Christian, but I am not offended by Happy Holidays, and that seems to be the newest thing for Christians to be offended by.
A friend of my moms went on and on about how much she despises people who say 'Happy Holidays' because it should be Christmas for Christ's birth and blahblahblah.
I just can't understand how someone can be offended by sentiments.
I think that when people become involved in relationships, their self esteem goes up, and typically there is a nice happy glow to them. That seems to attract people to them more than when they were single. Just my thoughts...
