I just finished watching Evangelion, the whole series plus the movies.

Seriously WTF was that. I am aware it is the expression most use to describe it after they finish the series but it is true. It is extreamly controvesial in many ways and way to new age for my taste but I can't say it was not good. Once I started I couldn't stop until the end BUT I do not consider it the best anime ever created or the best there is because it isn't, it reflects al the hardships and thought the director migh have faced when he did this, but just because it is complex and hard to understand does it make it an instant work of art beigns without a brain can't understand. I suppose it is a view of a twisted and disturbed mind [by this I am refering to the ending]. I actually liked Shinji's alternate universe more than the ending in the movie, still it was not really a waste of time [I fell as if I took a giant leap at the understanding of anime]. Oh and besides my OTP is just too confusing because Shinji is just too gay to chose anyone.

BTW though I did found simiarities between Eureka SeveN and Evangelion, they really are very different. Also there is a comment Hideki Anno [director of EVA] made about originality in anime and how it can't always be possible any more but only tweaked and changed to create a diffrent story but with resemblance. He said this refering to EVA, also if I find the exact quote I will change this.

Also I dissapeared from the face of Earth. I had two weeks of vacations. First week was spent on missions and the second one was hibernation from the world [well I did go out, just not as much]. I spent my time watching tons of anime and movies. Some of those movies I watched included like 5 movies of Detective Conan [a series from my late childhood that forever scared me for life] and some from studio ghibli, like The Cat Returns.

When I was about 9 or 10, the local tv network aired anime in a hour show dedicated for teens. Inoccent me was bored once and surfing the 10 channels the antenna only provided me and stoped at what looked like and everyday flashy cartoon, later I would learn it was japanese animation. Imagine my surprise when a serial murder stars killing middle aged men and leaves the song 'Midnight Sonata' at the scene. I was scared beyond my wits but I watched it all never the less. From that day on Conan became imprignated in my mind even if I only saw an episode and 3 years later another one. Every single time I herd that song I remembered the episode, up to today I can picture most of it in my mind. Only last week I found a way to watch the episodes online, only to find out it is really old and that I have more than 450 episodes to catch up to.

For those who don't know Detective Conan, first realease in 1995 is the story of Shinichi Kudo, a 17 year old super detective. One day when he was visiting a theme park with his childhood friend Mouri Ran, he saw a deal between a man in black and got caught. He was forced some poison that shrunk him aprox. 10 years so know he lives with Ran stuck as a little first grade boy, I forgot to mention Ran's dad is a detective, not a very good one though. Even if he look slike a little boy he still has the mind of a 17 year old and can solve cases many adults can't.

Although it is old it is incredibly good and almost all the episodes are worth while and just recently it released it's 12th movie.

I am amazed about how much I ranted but I needed to do that.

detective conan, eureka seven, evangelion, vacation, rant
