Everyone can stop using "pouring" when they mean "poring". Right now.
pore: verb [ intrans. ] ( pore over/through) be absorbed in the reading or study of : Heather spent hours poring over cookbooks.
• archaic think intently; ponder : when he has thought and pored on it.
ORIGIN Middle English : perhaps related to peer 1 .
"Pour" is a transitive verb. It requires a direct object. If you are pouring over something, you need to tell me what is being poured. Water? Coffee? Incubation buffer?
