The Cherry Orchard

Was alright, I suppose. However, the first act was quite boring as we'd done it so many times in class. The second act was funny and the final acts were really boring. The best character was Yepikhodov, the bumbling sales clerk, but the guy who played Lopakhin (an peasant who has become rich) was really good. Dunyasha, the love-sick servant, was really annoying as she wouldn't stop making lovey-dovey eyes at the character, Yasha (who is the really horrible, arrogant, footman). The person who played Anya (the 17-year old daughter of the main character) seemed to have nothing going on in her brain. My drama teacher was SOOO good, though as Varya (the adopted, religious daughter of the main character, acts like the house-keeper). Unfortunately, the main character, Ranyevskaya, wasn't played too well which meant that the play wasn't as good as it could have been and you didn't empathise with the characters as much as you could have.

All in all, though, it was very well done, the set was really cool and they managed to portray the characters personalities (but sometimes not all that well).

However, I don't understand why the Cherry Orchard (by Chekhov) is considered such a classic.
