Twinings, as The Husband so thoughtfully alerted me, is
giving away three free teabags of your choice. Just go here and pick your poison. A good way to try new flavors!
IKEA: is now selling record album frames, at $8 a pop. I usually see these for more like $20, and had despaired of ever being able to afford showing off my collection in style. Now, I no longer have an excuse not to get some of those puppies up on the wall.
Also, pro-tip - if you would like to visit the Denver IKEA and have it pretty much all to yourself, go during the first Broncos game of the season, when they’re playing with a highly anticipated new quarterback. Just FYI.
Target: has Serenity for $5, although when I was there last night, it was on sale for $3.99. A great stocking stuffer for the geek on your Christmas list, if they don’t already have it.
I, um, maybe bought multiple copies for evangelizing with. When the adorable baby geek girl clerk scanned the first one, she asked me if I’d seen Firefly, because she wanted to be sure I was aware of the series, and then we nerded out at each other and talked sci-fi shows while she finished ringing me up.
On the way home, I decided to swing by Taco Bell for dinner, because it was nearly 10:00, and I did not even feel like assembling a sandwich at that point. And A+++ decision, self, because they now have
black bean and cilantro rice burritos, which are uber-tasty, and probably vegan without the cheese, if you swing that way. OM NOM NOM BLACK BEANS.
Spent last weekend over at the baby sis’, and whilst it did not go quite as originally planned, it was quite the adventure, and a good time was mostly had by all.
We hit up the beer and chili fest going on in Mt. CB on Saturday, and I had the best ale I have ever had the pleasure of putting in my mouth. Smooth, with no hint of bitter/sourness, and with a slight smoky undertaste. Sadly, it is made by Mr. Grumpypants at his brewery in Ouray, and only for sale at his brewpub and a couple of other local restaurants.
I foresee a trip to Ouray in my near future. This shit is just that damned good.
Fanishly, I have been mainlining Teen Wolf fic, and need to, um, actually watch the fucking series. I bought the first season the last time I ordered cat meds, now I just need to actually commit eyeball time to it. The lack of fourthwall in the fandom squicks me a little, not even gonna lie, but the cast is all frelling adorable, and Colton Haynes’ twitter is a fucking gift, so. I just need to get over my bitter old school fannish self. Apparently we are living in a brave new fandom world, wherein David Hewlett promotes voting for "McShep" to win a pairing competition via his twitter? IDEK anymore.
Also fell into some Suits fic, and I think I need to start watching that show. I was unaware until relatively recently that Gina fucking Torres was in it, so fail on that, internets. She is an awesome lady made of awesomeness, so I am assuming the show must at least be halfway decent?
Also also, I am having bandom feels like it's 2009, because Sisky went to visit The Butcher the other night, and The Butcher first twittered a list of adorable things they were planning on doing (1. Build Blanket and pillow fort) and then posted pictures of them doing it. Well, you know, not doing it doing it. But smooching in pics and then falling asleep together in said pillow fort, so close enough. I just. *dolphin noises* BOYS.
Have also been watching BBCA's new series, Copper, and man, that shit is like my fannish catnip, yo. What, frog? Watching a British produced series set in 1860's NYC? Nobody could have predicted that! Sadly, I have not been seeing any fannish chatter about it at all, either here or over on tumblr, which saddens me. I still have not quite figured out what the lead actor is trying to do with his accent, but I am willing to give him a pass until we find out more about his background. Then, I reserve the right to be judgy as all hell.
Bookie and I (and the baby sis) are once again hooked on Face Off, which is, somewhat sadly, probably the best original programming on SyFy at the moment. I am predicting Roy will win the grand prize, at this point, though it would be nice to see Sarah or Laura pull off a win.
We're just not going to talk about hockey, okay? Except to say that the Avs now have not only the youngest captain in the league, but also the prettiest.
Also also, since I’m doing such a good job at keeping up with lj these days, I thought I’d add in even more social media platforms to my life: I’m frog4 over on tumblr, where I finally caved to The Husband’s insistence I join up. If you are over there too, let me know what you're going by, so I can follow you!
And over the weekend, the baby sis finally made good on her threats to get me on Facebook. And I made good on my threat to sign up as the cat. So if you want to friend me over there, look for Rufus T. Fuzzypants. However, I have family and non-fannish friends friended over there, so it’s going to be an ix-nay on the ash-slay kind of a place. And quite frankly, I don’t think the cat will update much.
What's new with you, flistians?
