Is the ending, shall we say, satisfactory?

The ending... frodosuz July 26 2007, 00:55:37 UTC
Well, it was better than the movie, although it wasn't emotionally satisfying b/c Gandalf, Elrond, Galadriel, etc. come to the Shire to fetch Frodo, and Arwen is there to offer her gift at that moment. So, Frodo hasn't really had time to mull it over, so to speak, but he jumps on the chance b/c he (as a narrator explains) has been ill for many months. But, I like the fact that they tried to deal with the Scouring of the Shire, and they addressed the fact that Saruman was responsible for most of the destruction, although he doesn't appear again...

It's tough, b/c I think they're trying to get it right with SO many limits. But Frodo's leaving didn't make me cry: it only ever has with cannon and the BBC production. But, at least he quotes the 'all that I have or might have had' line. They ARE trying. No Grey Havens, however.

Great to hear from you, btw! :)

I really wanted to see this show, but James and I just don't have the money for theatre tickets at present. That said, I wish we'd known you were in London, too - we were there for the past few days, doing some research in the British Library and seeing some friends who also happened to be there. Do you ever wander up to York? It's where we live :) If you haven't seen it, definitely worth a visit.

Wish I'd made the connection that you were down here, as well, but it's been so crazy with the move and the end of school that it might not have worked out to meet up, anyway. Sorry you didn't have the funds to see the show (although I'm surprised I was able to scrape them up, myself. Found a cheap ticket through toptable.co.uk), but hopefully it will be playing for a while.

I have been to York, once, the first year I lived here. LOVED it, and keep meaning to get back. Perhaps when I come back for a visit, I can meander up that way and we could meet? I plan to get back here as soon as work and money allow it: am aiming for an October visit, but we shall see...

Hope you had fun in Lovely London - I love this city, and will miss it so!
