My Shadow

Today I have to put my dog Shadow to sleep. She's very old (around 16 1/2 now) and it seems she's finally ready to go. So in one hour I'm taking my baby so she can be at peace.

I'm pretty nauseated right now. Knowing a thing is right and not being sickened by it are two entirely separate things, it seems.

Thank you. It was awful and now I keep LOOKING for her everywhere. I've had her for 16 years. I don't remember what life was like without her.

Thank you. I'm very sad. Knowing it was right really didn't help me at all. I know if I hadn't done it, it would have been for ME, not for her. Our animals trust us to do what's best for them. She gave me fifteen good years (she was a rescue dog, so she was about a year and a half old when I got her). The least I could do was let her go painlessly. And it was painless and peaceful.
