So, I was reading this 75,000-80,000 word story last night, and it was exceptionally good. Good enough that I planned to REC it here at the end, but I'm greedy and wanted to finish it before I posted the rec.
(Lesson the first: Greed is bad!)
So, I'm about 72,500 words into a 75,000 word fic (or so.) In other words, I'm RIGHT AT THE END, but I haven't reached the end, when all of a sudden, MY COMPUTER RESTARTS.
(Lesson the second: Never walk away from a computer that might restart to complete installing updates. I don't know how this happened. I do all my installations manually to avoid problems. I don't trust "AUTOMATIC UPDATES).
And now, of course, I can't find this fic again.
(Lesson the third: Always save a copy of a link to a story you're enjoying. Send it to yourself in an email if possible so you can FIND IT AGAIN if something ridiculous like this happens.)
Yeah.
So, I guess it was a good day because I learned something. Perhaps 'learned' is too strong a word since I already KNEW all these things before. So, I guess I had my memory refreshed for me.
I will let you know if I ever find this fic again by reccing it immediately. It's a Sherlock BBC fic, by the way. I told you the show was great, and despite the fact that there are only 3 episodes, and the show is less than 1 year old, this fandom has some FANTASTIC fics on LJ and DW. I can't speak for FF.net. I haven't bothered to sift through over there.
