It's a bit bizarre being in the apartment all by myself. Angie's up in Bay City for the evening to celebrate her mom's birthday; Kendra's traveling somewhere with her family; and Christina is having fun in London and Paris, so I'm all alone here. Le sigh. Tomorrow I get to go to Monroe to help bake lots of cupcakes for Sunday.
I'm feeling slightly productive at the moment, as the result of me finally taking an evening to do some of the things I needed to do. My work schedule has been crazy for the past couple of weeks, being so unpredictable that it's hard to schedule in time to do other things, as my boss is just kind of having me come in when she needs another person. Thus far my schedule has looked like
this...

Crazy. In addition, my mom broke her leg and had surgery on it and needs someone with her at all times, so anytime that I'm not working I pretty much have to be in Dexter trying to keep the house from dissolving into chaos. Also, this results in my dad not really going to work much and in me having no ride home with him from work, so after work I end up getting home at about 8. It makes for some rather long days.
Last night was fun, however. Megan and Angie invited me out to dinner with them at Red Hawk (in which my ordering adventurousness didn't really work out for me, sadly...the thing I ordered was just plain weird) and then came back to the apartment to hang out. We ended up making some pretty fabulous strawberry daiquiris that had about 4 shots of rum in each one (this was a legitimate recipe, mind you, not just something we made up) and fresh strawberries. They made us all quite tipsy pretty quickly; hilarity ensued. We ended up watching chick flicks and talking and eventually making a drunken midnight run down to Campus Corner to let Megan by her first legal alcohol (tequila, of course) and resupply our drunkenness. It was good times.
Today I got to spend the whole day in the 2-year-old room, which makes me happy. They're adorable and hilarious. After work I came home and did a bunch of stuff I've been trying to do for a week. Here's the
general summary:
1. Returned the library books I've had out since January (whoops)
2. Balanced my checkbook and transferred some money so that my check to Kendra for rent doesn't bounce (it was a close call - the only one I've ever had, and probably the only one I ever will have because I usually monitor my money quite well...this week was just one in which I never had time to balance my checkbook and had to guess. I was only $5 off, which is pretty impressive considering I really had no idea how much money I had)
3. Made a "To-Do" checklist of about 20 major and minor things I need to do before going to Ireland and went over all of my travel abroad information to make sure I was all caught up on everything I need to do
4. Cleaned up from last night and emptied the dishwasher and washed dishes
5. Poured bleach down the sink and scoured it so that our apartment (hopefully) no longer smells like old people
6. Cleaned up the living room
7. Experimented with the Arm & Hammer carpet deodorizing stuff I have and vacuumed the living room/hallway...it now smells pretty strongly of lavender and rose. I think I might get a different scented stuff next time...hopefully one that's not as strong. I've currently got the fans on on opposite ends of the apartment to circulate the air (and the lavender-rosiness) through
8. Put all of my dirty clothing in my laundry bag and shoved it in my closet
9. Put all of my clean clothing in another laundry bag with the general goal of putting it away tomorrow night when I get back from Monroe
10. Cleaned up my half of the room so that I can see the floor in it now
11. Found my cell phone charger
12. Febreezed my work shirts and hung them up to dry
It makes me feel a bit better about myself to see it all quantified like that. The apartment looks a lot better too, if I do say so myself. I should probably go to bed now, since I'm waking up in less than 7 hours to go bake all day. Huzzah!
