Happiness = Little People

So I got to interview today for a job that I didn't really remember applying to, and didn't remember at all what it entailed.

So I wandered down to the address I was given when I was emailed about interviewing, and it's the Pound Center for Children. Already a positive sign. I wandered in, and there were lots of little people (I'd say between about 4 and 7, agewise) running around getting ready to go play outside. Positive sign #2. I introduced myself to the lady at the desk, who gave me some paperwork to fill out before interviewing. She was friendly. I then got introduced to a woman named Jasmine who would be interviewing me, who appeared to be very laid back and friendly. Positive sign #3. After filling out the paperwork, I went upstairs, which took a little bit of maneuvering since the place is an old house and a bit of a maze - nice and quirky. Positive sign #4. When I got to her office, there was a kitchen in it, with a little stove and a sink and cabinets and everything, totalling about 5 feet in length. Score. Positve sign #5. I went in to interview with another girl named Jessie, who was small and quiet and Asian, and we were told the job description: part time, starting in the fall, involving hands-on activities with kids under the age of 5, assisting a teacher by playing with them and helping them clean up afterwards. Apparently it's a preschool that's play-based (kind of like Montessori, only more structured) and involves groups of about 20 kids at once. Also, my schedule works out so that, if I got the job, I could be a consistent afternoon person, which they're looking for. I was so excited, and I didn't bother to hide it very much, so I hope I came off as enthusiastic and not scary. I miss kids so much...they're so cool, and I haven't gotten to spend much time with any since I moved to Dexter. I'm really excited. I answered all of her questions for me honestly, and I think she liked me. Happy happy Callie. I don't hear back for a few weeks, because she still has a lot more interviews to do and the 4th of July weekend kind of disrupts things, but I'll cross my fingers. I mean, seriously...it's my ideal job, right here. Jasmine (the woman I interviewed with) also let me know about a pre-kindergarten certification that you can add on to your teaching certificate that allows you to work with little people, in environments like this. That made me happy. I'm going to consider adding that on to whatever I end up doing, even though it's an extra twenty credits.

I'm so excited. Good thing I'm patient enough to wait the couple of weeks to hear back:)

I'm in the MUG right now, and really craving that pizza I'm smelling, but I'm eating lunch with my mom. Sigh. Maybe next week.
