The Black Keys and SSM show!
(The Fillmore, September 20th)
I ♥ SSM.
A lot.
So.
What happened was this.
I got home, went online (I had a half hour break in between school and my voice lesson) and was instant messaged by Cody White (the "ex" type person), who asked "DO YOU DRIVE?" and I said "No...why?" and blah blah blah. He was put on the guest list for the show by Johnny Hentch (err, Syzmanski) (of the Hentchmen, also of SSM). He was put on the guest list Plus One. Meaning he could bring one person. All the people he wanted to invite couldn't go. :) So that left ME!
I hadn't seen him in about a year (last time I saw him, I had long blonde hair).
So, my mom drove me to the show after my voice lesson.
I saw Cody...hung out for a while until the bands played...it was amazingly NOT awkward. He's very nice. I don't get the asshole vibe anymore. Haha. It was really, really fun.
SSM was amazing. I loved them SO much. I'm sure you all have heard me talk about at least one of these bands: the Hentchmen, the Sights, and the Cyril Lords. WELL SSM features Johnny from the Hentchmen, Dave Shettler from the Sights, and Marty Morris from the Cyril Lords.
They were really great, and it was fun talking to Johnny and Marty afterwards (particularly Marty, who was tipsy and super nice).
The Black Keys weren't that great.
The most impressive part of their set was definitely the lighting...it was INSANE. The entire house lights kept being turned on as an effect...so weird. People couldn't tell if they loved or hated it (I loved it).
Aside from the lighting, the highlights of the Black Keys' set were their covers of "Have Love, Will Travel" and "No Fun."
(No Fun was their encore)
All in all, a really fun experience.
