Updateyness...

I was going to name this entry "What I Did on My Summer Vacation Spring Break," but firstly the strikeout html doesn't work in the LJ title box and secondly, I still have a good chunk of Spring Break left over and while I have no plans to do anything, it is not precluded.

Anyways, on Thursday morning at early-o'clock, Karen, Martin and I headed off to Contact Conference 2009. I didn't mention it to y'all because hey, I'm going to announce to the entire planet that we're out of town for the weekend and our apartment is unguarded? Umm... no.

In any case, this is another one of those picture posts I'm so gosh-darned fond of. If you'd like to see shots of stuff I found post worthy, then

We left so early because we were taking 101 and the 1 up to the conference. This meant there was a lot of beachiness. The first place we stopped and took pictures was a little south of Santa Barbara.

I don't know what this next picture is of, but it was too pretty not to get a shot of. Some sort of bush at a rest stop.

Somewhere along central Cali we got this shot...

"Squirrel fishing is my anti-drug"...

...and a close up!

Further up the coast...

Yes, yes, eventually we will get to Mountain View and have pictures of the conference (not really) but when it takes a long time to get somewhere and everything is gorgeous, you take a lot of photos to fill the time.

Big Sur.

I'd never been there before. Now I have ^_^

Finally we got to the Nasa Ames Exchange Lodge and checked in. Karen found an old friend of hers, Reed Riner, who invited us to dinner with him and Jim Funaro, who is pretty much the founder/guy who runs it. I had no idea at the time, we were just going to Italian with two friends of hers. Here's a shot of five of us at the restaurant.

Left to right is Reed, Jim, me, Martin and Karen. Reed and Jim are both cool, smart fellows and we had a lot of time to talk to them over the weekend, so that was nice.

The next day we attended conferences and I took many blurry pictures that were not worth posting. If you want to know the schedule it's at the link way up above to the conference. Eventually though, the three of us dressed for the banquet that evening and headed back out of the lodge.

You gotta check out the cake they had at the banquet. Made of win.

Both Karen and I dressed in Sparkly Things. Here's a nice shot of her and Jim Funaro.

You can't tell it in this next picture, but Contact Conference won the lottery as I decided this was the one day this year I would go Ultra Fancy (for me) and wear a skirt. This will not happen again, soon.

Me, Karen and Martin, in case anyone wasn't sure...

After the banquet and cake and such was the keynote speaker, Penelope Boston, who wins my Best Slide of the Conference Award.

There will be pictures of the Saturday and Sunday stuff as well, but as I only got home last night and have 1.7 gig of photos it's going to be a bit to edit the rest and post them. So, later.

Comments are GO!
