Snow

Jan 27, 2009 13:28

We've finally gotten our first substantial snowfall this year. The Post is going bonkers saying it's the largest snowfall in years, and at a whopping 3-4 inches, they're technically correct, but emotionally overblown.

It's funny that it's just now really starting to feel like winter. Last week or before we had some unbelievably high temperatures for January, and the kids were running around out there with tee shirts with the sun shining. It was crazy cuckoo inside the building with people running around like it was summer or something.

When I was recovering from my surgery I was required to soak in a warm tub daily, and I spent some time listening (and singing along) to a lot of music on my iPod. One night was Tori Amos night for me, and I was listening carefully to the lyrics of "Winter," and realizing that I keep conflating it with "Mother." Two totally different songs, but both about parent-child relationships and the feelings surrounding growing up too fast. Then I remembered seeing BD Wong on Oz singing "Leather."

Well, that was a departure from the theme... Oh well, it's all in good fun.

Later folks!
