The Art of Fashion

WOW!

I think this is the first time in the 4 seasons of PR that the designers actually stepped it up a notch when presenting their final looks to the judges. And I was literally wowed.

Christian: Well, it was definitely a Christian look, and you can tell that this particular piece served as an inspiration for his Bryant Park collection. Honestly, I loved it. The enormous shirt was gorgeous. I loved the different pieces. It was a really fantastic look and the kind of thing we should expect from a major designer trying to present a collection. Only problem? You couldn't see the makeup at all. Everything was so high up on her neck and the hat was so far down that you couldn't see the makeup at all. L'Oreal I'm sure was pissed.

Jillian: I was not wowed by the gold dress, but I was wowed by the coat. Jillian's obviously got this passion for coats and she makes them beautifully. But the dress, I thought that gold lame looked cheap. Maybe it looked better in person, but I didn't care for it.

Chris: So much of a ripoff of the couture dress... But, it was definitely inspired by the painting, and it was extremely dramatic. I think he could have changed it up in a different way, but I think that as he was following the painting so closely that it almost had to be similar to the couture dress. I'm glad that the judges put him up for a second vote, because I think he has a lot of potential and his Bryant Park collection showed that.

Rami: I wish that Rami would have been out. I mean, to give him a second chance because of craftsmanship was an easy out. But I can see how it was a deadlock. Both of them worked in a derivative way, and it just needed to be pushed a little further. And can I tell you how sick I am of Rami already? I mean, the only time he did anything outside of his comfort zone was when he was literally forced to work with another material. Otherwise he's cranking out the same thing over and over and over... I have a strong feeling that Rami will be eliminated first in the next round because his show won't be dramatic enough compared to Chris's. And given that Rami's collection that walked at Bryant Park looked SO SIMILAR I can't imagine him even being considered.

Sweet P: I'm sorry she's out, but that dress was fugly. I like that she plays with color, but that thing just looked so unbelievably bad. When she said she was working with the peacocks painting I thought she would do a fishtail dress, because that's what I would expect. Something sculpted and lush. But what came out was just not what needed to be shown. It sucks that she's out, but I thought she did a decent job on her decoy collection. I hope that this really jumpstarts her career.
