I've been listening to a lot of the music I listened to when I was younger today, stuff I listened to while in high school.
Right now I'm listening to "Life's Rich Pageant" by R.E.M. They're still my favorite band of all time. I've got nearly everything they released on casette, and I've been slowly building up the MP3's and CD's so I can listen to things again.
I forgot how much I loved this album. And I catch lyrics that I never noticed before. For instance in "The Flowers of Guatemala" he says "Amanita is the name, the flowers cover everything." Amanita Muscaria is one of the many magic mushrooms. It's the red capped white speckled one (they look like smurf villages). Now that song makes me think he's singing about tripping. Though Guatemala is quite colorful in its own right.
Beautiful.
I can't wait to hear "Superman" again.
