Update on my cousin's son

Here's what my aunt told me today after her hospital visit to see my cousin Tonya and her son Jamyson.

Right now Jamyson is of course still in ICU. Yesterday the doctors said that the surgery to remove the skull chip from pressing on the brain stem was success. However the brain stem is bruised, the ligament in the C-2/C-3 area is damaged (stretched I think), the left side of his face (the jaw/cheek bone area) is damaged but they do not know to what extent, he has bleeding behind his left ear, and the coroted artery (I think that is how you spell it) has a tear in it. His skull is fractured and the doctors told them that the first 72 hours are critical. Last night while we were at the hospital his heart rate and blood pressure were increasing and he was running a low grade fever. The doctors also told them that it would "get worse before it would get better". I think last night was the beginning of that "worse" part. There is swelling on the brain but as of last night I did not have any real details of how much.

That is about all I have right now. They are keeping his sedated (from my understanding they will continue to keep him sedated for this 72 hour period) and he does wake up when the meds start to wear off but of course they just put him back to sleep. So far Tonya said he has moved his limbs and coughed which I believe maybe a good sign that there is no paralysis in his limbs.

It sounds pretty bad, but with elements of hopefulness in it. Let's all keep praying for the best.

Thanks for everyone who's helping.

prayer, family
