A smile and politeness goes a long way

I've been shaking off my reserved nature and putting on a cloak of boldness.

In a sense it's like my current little social experiment (yes, I have a few on myself).

Like when I went into House and fell in love with a set of cutlery. But the only set that John (my brother) and I love was the display set. And after searching and asking, there weren't any other sets in that colour out back.

I asked politely for a discount but she wouldn't give since it was already discounted. Politely, I persisted and asked for someone who can make the decision to discount it (knowing full well she could if she wanted to).

In the end, she gave in and we even had a friendly chit-chat before I left and there were no bad feelings in the air.

*waves flag of triumph*

Another occasion to use my charms was yesterday when I went to Albert Park with a few friends and I shared in the cost to buy a large cup of wedges. The guy was trying to overflow the cup with wedges (as they do in most places) and I said with a friendly smile on my face "maybe you can give it in two cups instead".

And he did!!

And as he did, he gave almost 2 full cups of wedges and another cup with heaps of sour cream!!

Yay to boldness... I'll never be submissively meek again. I mean, what's the worse that can happen? They can say "no" but that's it!
