Holiday decorating, etc.

Wow, it's been busy.  I had a bunch of stuff to write, but it's been so long since I've posted that now I've forgotten most of it.

We had originally planned to hold a Halloween party this year, but between Comicon & my sweetie's work schedule, we just couldn't find a suitable time to host it.  We'll start planning well in advance for next year.  Halloween itself was fairly quiet for us.  I did minimal decorating (mostly just inside our window) and only carved one pumpkin.  We decided to play a board game (The Buffy the Vampire Slayer game - seemed appropriate somehow...) upstairs so that we could actually hear the door.  We only got around 24 kids, which is pretty similar to last time's numbers.  We may have missed some that forgot to yell "Trick or Treat" and instead attempted to ring the broken doorbell.

We bought a new artificial Christmas tree this year (the old one was a hand-me-down from several years ago), so I had to pull the old bulky one out of the closet and package it to give away Goodwill.  While I was at it, I did a complete overhaul of our seasonal decorations closet.  It took a while, but everything is sorted now and there is much more room than before.
The forecast is calling for snow tomorrow, so I put my outdoor Christmas decorations up today.

Next weekend I'll start putting up the indoor Christmas decorations.  I know it seems early, but it's a long standing tradition of mine, ever since I started working in a place that gets crazy busy for Christmas - if I didn't get the decorations up early, I'd run out of energy as the pace at work got more and more hectic.

busy, halloween, christmas
